Ben Boulware

Has run a successful gym in Anderson for a while. I would think he’s going to be Batson’s replacement. Many on here would probably be bothered by another former player getting this job, but I think he would be a good fit for this.

This actually seems very plausible.

Does Ben have the necessary certifications though?

Most S&C coaches have a laundry list of S&C, Kinesology, etc certifications.

I’m not sure what he majored in at Clemson or what/if he has any post-grad certifications. I would think that they’ve known for a while that Batson would retire soon and already had Ben getting whatever requirements he needed before giving him the job.

I could be way off, but it makes sense.

Personally I would love an outside hire for this position. But I know he owns a Gym and he was everything you could want in defensive player and more!

Hmm, I love BB but put him second in command under an experienced guy. Then he takes over after getting that experience. There is a big difference between running a gym and running a S&C program for a major D1 program.

Hopefully...

Dabo has finally learned his lesson about hiring former players (Friends & Family approach) as opposed to conducting a national search to find the absolute best candidate available.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Unfortunately for this take he also has historical achievements

the likes of which the sport have rarely seen with F&F's in key roles. We actually just extended our own NCAA record last month with a 14th consecutive season with a post-season win. No team in the history of the sport is close to that.

If Ben's intensity on the field and vocal leadership translates to the weight room (how could it not?) he might be ideal.

Running a gym for bored housewives in Anderson isnt the same as running

a college football strength and conditioning program. Why are people obsessed with hiring former players?

There's something in these hills.

That’s the truth. The Friends Family and Former Players crap has been tried and failed. Clemson Football has suffered for it. Can we get off this ride please??
Boulware isn’t certified or experienced enough to run a S&C program.

I posted earlier about that position, dont know about Ben's qualification

Rendrick Taylor (I know, I know, former Clemson guy, friends and family plan, blah, blah, blah) has 10yrs now in S&C with NCSU, most recently Colorado, a few other schools, started in Clemson program as GA. I even saw a blurb about being selected by Green Bay as part of Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship. Don't know if he has any official NFL S&C experience yet.
