Holy Cow did you hear about DABO

Nov 24, 2012, 11:22 PM

That he was playing in the game tonite??? No actually he wasnt on the field playing he coached and did his job and he has perfectly done all season idiots. Its not up to him to execute plays and make the game happen as we want it. Be mad the offense/defense players or whoever but dont blame the coaches. Dabo did throw interceptions, Venables did miss tackles...come on you are all pure idiots. Im mad about the loss too, im miserable but come on wanting to fire Dabo because of 4 straight USC losses, honestly thier defense has been too good and our defense hasnt cut it thats why we keep losing. Look at what we have and can have next season and keep whining about coaching. After this loss im more furious at the Offense for letting us down. I walked away from the game saying to myself atleast Dabo is our coach still and not Spurrier...

(pumper) no, Dabo is just the guy paid $millions

Nov 24, 2012, 11:25 PM

to get it done and he's done NOTHING. No bowl wins, one fluke ACC and then an embarrassing national showing. No quality wins at all!! Welcome to CUSA, that's what Clemson is capable of now.

“poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids.”

It's Dabo's job to recruit big time players.

Nov 24, 2012, 11:35 PM

Tajh, Sammy, Nuke and Andre are very talented players, but none of them are big time players. The diffrence is big time players step up in big games. Tajh choked, Nuke dropped passes (ones he almost always finds ways to catch in minor games)Andre had a few good runs but for the most part was a non factor, and Sammy...did Sammy even play tonight? Didn't see anything out of him.
On the other side of the ball...Clowney, despite having a bad foot, played the game of his life. The "Other" Ellingotn caught clutch passes. Miles, the back-up, made some big plays to keep drives alive. and even Thompson steped up to get the job done.
It is a coaches job to both recruit and train talent to be big time players who can play in big games. Clemson played 2 big games this year, and lost both of them.

Who recruits the DB's? Who calls the plays? Who trains the DB's? Who forgets that Ellington can actually run the ball? Who calls pass plays with long developing routes and nothing to check down too? The coaches do. If there are problems you can almost always chase it back to management.

It IS on Dabo. I don't want him fired because he does alot

Nov 24, 2012, 11:25 PM

of good things but you can't continue to look weak every time we play a physical team and lose 4 straight to Usuc.

And again Dabos not on the field he has done amazing things for this program, if we would have won tonite NONE of you woud be talking like that he would get so much praise..its BS. Our Players cant get it done with pressure, we ran well but the pressured Tahj and he couldnt perform period. Despite a weak ACC this is still the best ive seen Clemson in almost my whole life that im old enough atleast to remember.

Well maybe you should listen to some old folks who have seen better.

I really like Dabo, but he needs to understand Defense, Controlling the line of scrimmage and Ball control are the keys to winning!!!!

It’s been proven for many years.

No he coaches to soft and Clemson win never be elite with Dabo

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tiger7981 what has he done?

Nov 24, 2012, 11:41 PM

Wht has he done in the last 4 years. Win the ACC? Yes he did and I always give him credit for that. Got us to a BCS Bowl? Yes but only to prove we didn't belong there. WHo has he beaten this year? Who good has he beaten? no one. Now its not Dabo's fault the ACC is aweful and Auburn is a joke this year. But the bottem line is, we are 10-0 vs theSisters of the Poor and the SC School of the deaf & Blind, and we are 0-2 vs good football teams.

I'm not saying Dabo should be fired

Nov 24, 2012, 11:43 PM

No thats not what I'm saying at all. I'm just saying he should have never been hired. I've been saying that since 2008. I love his passion and think he is a great guy, but he will never make us an elite team and he will never beat USC.

Re: I'm not saying Dabo should be fired

Nov 25, 2012, 12:00 AM

I don't know that he will never beat USC, but I would agree he should not have been hired. (based on his resume at the time of his hiring)

I think he has finally surrounded himself with the right assistant coaches, but he lost a year of recruits with
the transition between he and Bowden and it has taken him time to find the right assistant coaches. I think he is doing a good/great job. (considering the circumstances)

He is also fighting an uphill battle on the recruiting front, since the ACC is still perceived to be a weak football conference compared to the SEC. Obviously that is beyond his control, but I think it's an issue the Clemson administration needs to be concerned about, if they want Clemson athletics to have elite athletic programs in the future.

Re: I'm not saying Dabo should be fired

Nov 25, 2012, 12:03 AM

I also think his head coaching inexperience and the
multiple coaching transitions (head, O.C., D.C.) have prevented the football program from becoming an elite program.

That seems like an issue for the Athletic Director, but he's gone now too, soooooo...

perceived to be a weak football conference —

Nov 25, 2012, 12:15 AM [ in reply to Re: I'm not saying Dabo should be fired ]

Because of this type of football

Clemson was really good when it played SEC style football in the ACC

It's his job to throw in the towel and quit on his dang team?

If so he should get a promotion!

Nov 24, 2012, 11:56 PM

If the coaches aren't responsible for anything what are you paying Dabo and Morris over 1 Million a year for?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lets be honest you do not fire Dabo for going 10-2...

Nov 25, 2012, 12:09 AM

I did not like the hire in the first place, but he seems to be righting the ship somewhat. At least we won the games we were supposed to. When was the last time we could say that. But elite teams are more physical than us and we have to correct that. Batson has to go!
