I was looking at notes made on 11/15/1996 and see I wrote that #20th ranked Tiger BB upset #3 KENTUCKY in Indianapolis 79-71 in OT!

And, they were Defending Champs (1995).

I listened to it (while driving) on the UK radio station.

Wasn't that the year that Kentucky also lost to South Carolina TWICE? The coots went 15-1 in conference play? But then turned around and lost to UNC Asheville, Charleston Southern, won the SEC "regular" season" and then bowed out to the 15 seed Coppin State? 15-1 vs the SEC but 0-2 against the Big South

They also lost to Clemson 19 point but could also beat Kentucky....twice.
