Ribs. Worked in the yard all day and this was my reward. Couple of beers and I’m good.

Pasta salad with shrimp and fresh vegetables and tossed with homemade remoulade sauce. Dessert was "depression cake." If you're not familiar, it's a very moist chocolate cake with chocolate icing, all made with items commonly found in most kitchens.

Fresh made Lasagna . . . but the best part was a warm homemade pound cake w/ raspberry drizzle on it for dessert!!!

observing this fellow that bakes, cooks and still has time to enjoy everything around him. Of course, with a handful of scotch 😉

most welcome anytime!!! There is always Scotch around here.
During my sister’s 6 year battle with cancer, she told me she wouldn’t leave until I mastered her pound cake, my Dad’s favorite dessert . . . I procrastinated for years . . . Refusing to learn or even try . . . She went into the hospital the final time in Dec 2011 and died May 2, 2012 . . . I brought her medical staff “her pound cake” the week before she graduated.
Every time I make it, she is with me . . . No cheat sheet recipe needed . . .

Makes me even more so appreciative.
Pound cake is a #### hard animal. My wife has tried for decades and it's close, just not quite there. She loves pound cake, as do I, but the real stuff is so rare.
Great story. Really.

What a great way to remember her. And great looking pound cakes as well.
Cooking/growing/hunting your own food is always rewarding but this has to be extra special.
