Keys to Texas game

4

Dec 19, 2024, 12:45 PM

Offense:
1. Passing downfield: 7-15 yard passes, using the middle of the field with Briningstool and Antonio Williams, deep shots to Wesco
2. Get the ball out fast: minimize the good Texas d-line by getting the ball out on time
3. Minimize 3 and outs: with 3 and out and short punt, you give Texas the ball at midfield and stress the D
4. Don’t stop scoring: no lead is safe

Defense
1. Tackle: get the ball carrier down with the first hit
2. No PI: a lot of the time our DBs are in good position, just play the ball and no free yards
3. Make adjustments: disguise looks, blitz get home, make adjustments when something’s not working

What say you?

Stop the run. Pressure Ewers. Accept that you'll may give up some big pass plays. Defense force the Longhorns to take 3's and keep them out of the end zone. Georgia beat them twice like that.

Yeah but what're y'all gonna do to stop ...

Oh wait. Y'all don't know who you're playing yet because y'all beat Texas twice, once with your backup QB.

And if we follow that thread to its logical conclusion, it means Texas is beatable.

Go Tigers.

Switch from Bloody Marys to margaritas around 2:30 EST.

Then coast into kickoff with some steamed tamales and an assortment of bean and cheese dips to settle the stomach and nerves.

By halftime, the tamales and dips should probably give way to a digestif of some sort like Micheladas or Bloody Beers.

That way, heading into the downhill portion of the game, everyone's just festive as h*ll no matter the score.

There have been times where our secondary looks lost and are just standing

around while a WR is wide open. They are playing zone, but they let the WR catch the ball then react.

That needs to stop.
