I know Drew from Charleston. Awesome kid. He is the perfect image of what Dabo would make if he could mold a football player as a person. More power to him. Hope he kicks it straight.

Costa was 16-38 (42%) with long of 47 yds as three-year starter at Bishop England. He was 4-13 his senior year in 2012.
I hope he kicks well and gets a shot, but I wouldn't get any hopes up.

He looked very promising coming out of highschool but got beat out by a walk on kicker. Now when he finally gets his chance to show that he wasn't a bust, well....its lookin like he was a bust. I just feel bad in the sense that he seemed like a really good kid in his interviews plus im sure he and his family were looking forward to his opportunity after Greg got injured. He still has a chance to improve and i really hope he does

He gotten his opportunity and he's failed to take advantage of it.
It's like Dabo says, he's very solid in practice but he just can't seem to get beyond the mental block of transferring that success in practice to the actual games and, unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of being able to wait to find out if he can.

Was kicking off of artificial turf, no wind, 70 degrees, almost 30,000 people in attendance, short distances and just absolutely wanked 2 of them.
Pressure will bust a pipe and it appears as though his pipes have busted

to feel sympathy for and give the benefit of the doubt to kickers. BUT, in this case, he has had 2 years to practice with ample resources to improve his ability - actual special teams coaches, the best gear, and I'm sure Swinney would give him anything he felt he needed: paying for and sending him off to kicking camps, cameras to film himself and analyze his technique with a knowledgeable coach, yoga classes, personal trainers to help with kicker-specific exercises. He has had hundreds of hours to practice for every situation - especially adversities galore - and to get detailed feedback and criticism every step of the way. For these reasons, I think there is no excuse for not being able to at least kick in close to the uprights on field goals less than 40 yards. It isn't the holder or snapper as that would have been an issue for Huegel as well. Especially since he was talented enough in high school to earn a scholarship to a major D1 school (extremely difficult for kickers nowadays).
I wonder if he just got comfortable with "just being on the team." I mean, what are the chances that a kicker has a season-ending injury. I guess he never assumed he would have to step up and be a difference maker. Oh well, hopefully the new guy will at least be able to make from 40 in.
