Charlie got hit hard by Texas Tech, with Kingsbury across the field and Leach at the helm. Drilled/thumped and got up. First time I'd seen such for a Clemson QB, seen plenty since but Charlie was a freshman.

I agree. The worst I've ever seen a QB get blasted time after time. The protection was pathetic. Charlie was a dude.

Good words from a great Clemson QB who has a really good head on his shoulders.
Charlie's father played in the NFL. Charlie got up there, stayed a long long time while making really good money. While I'm sure there were times he wanted to be a #1 guy, he has not shown any frustrations or bitterness over his career. Charlie was in the league for 10 years, so he's going to have NFL retirement money coming in a some point. And he made ~~$20M being Touchdown Jesus. That strikes me as a terrific, terrific career.
Nice of him to have a good take on Trevor.
Whitehurst is one of my all time favorite Tigers. From the beginning of his career when he threw 8 TDs in two weeks to beat both Duke and UNC (42-14) in back to back weeks until his unforgettable 63-17 destruction of South Carolina, he secured a permanent place as one of the all time great Tiger QBs.
Thanks for the memories Charlie. I am really glad those brutes from Texas Tech did not kill you. I NEVER figured out how you kept getting up.

I think Charlie was the youngest to have a D T-OFF on the QB in that TT Bowl Game. Trevor was a sophomore and Charlie RS freshman and no previous playoff/acc championships played. Heck, first bowl. Definitely the youngest and with less working help, so TT has set on him.

I thought that Touchdown Jesus belonged to Notre Dame,
how did Charlie steal it? I will add that Charlie was
one tough son of a gun and a coot killer. Killed them
chickens four times.
