Son of former NFL first round pick to walk on at Clemson
Brent Venables has another linebacker to train, and this one has the right bloodlines. Linebacker Regan Upshaw, Jr., has accepted a preferred walk-on spot with the Clemson football team and will enroll in school later this month, just in time for Clemson’s second session of summer school. Waiting for those who don't understand preferred walk-on to start screaming wasted Scholarship.Only thing this young man is promised is that he is at the top of the lists of walk-ons. No scholarship unless he earns on!

I don't think anybody that is on a football message board doesn't know the difference between a scholarship player and a walk-on. If they don't know the difference, I doubt that they would complain seeing how they know so little about college football.

I root for all of our guys, and sure will be rooting for this dude. Maybe this kid wasn't as mature as he needed to be when he was younger. Seems he's got it together now and can see the light.

Wow that's a weird story

Does him being a 2015 recruit who still has all of his eligibility mean he hasn't played since fall 2014? Impressive that he was still able to do well at camp with that much time off.

He didn't start playing football until 2014

I saw this in an article about his 2014 high school team;
DE Regan Upshaw, Sr.: Though Upshaw, son of former Buc Regan Upshaw, has played rugby and hockey, he’s never before played football. That said, Emanuel sees great potential in the athletic rookie and expects the 6-foot, 215-pound defender to have a big first year anchoring a defensive line on which there will be lots of pressure to perform.
His upside may be much like Dodd was. He's very athletic but lacks football experience. I can't wait to see what he can do.
Go Tigers!!

Definitely a high upside guy. I assume he tests pretty well athletically and there's no better place to learn the game than on the scout team.
