Like all, I have friends and kin who fell in War as they did their best to keep me safe.

One I think on this day is a guy I was with most every day as a kid. We collected comic books and trading cards. We played board games and formed "secret clubs". He was smaller than us, but was the leader. Mess with Calvin and all on Steinkuhler will defend. I loved him, as did all. Calvin would have your back.

Here he is on the day he received his Eagle Scout Badge. In the day gaining that in our Mill Hill twon was not like now --> very difficult and rare.

Later he died in VN as a Marine. He was a gunner in a helicopter. His job was to rescue soldiers who would die if no help arrived. That was "so" Calvin.

rocketed to the rank of 2nd class,and then we moved to another town where none of my friends were into scouting,so i dropped out.still look back fondly though on summer camp,camporees,and the regular meetings.still have and cherish some of my old wooden neckerchief slides(paul bunyon,chief big jaw etc.),along with the exacto scars.being the idiots we were at the time,we would carve the scout 3 finger salute slide and then cut off the 2 side fingers leaving only the middle one.didn't get any merit badges for that action.
