i still think osu losing at home to a gawd aweful va tech

Dec 6, 2014, 11:37 PM

should keep them out

either way we are going to have..

Dec 6, 2014, 11:37 PM

controversy the first year..which is good and will get talk of an 8 team playoff rolling..the top 3 are no doubters.fsu bama and oregon in no particular order..but its the fourth team that will cause the stir

No, ESPN will push for FOUR SEC teams...

I don't think there's any need for 16, but 8 would be

Dec 7, 2014, 7:53 AM [ in reply to Re: That won't solve the problem. They will then want 16.*** ]

perfect and here is why... The goal of a playoff (size wise) is to ensure that the best team in the country at least makes it in. With a 4 team playoff there's a real risk that the best team in the country gets left out. 2 of OSU/TCU/Baylor are going to get left home this year and 1 of those teams could definitely be the best team in the country this year. If you expand the playoff to 8 teams the odds that the best team in the country makes the playoff goes up astronomically. It's just very, very unlikely that teams sitting there in those 9 and 10 spots are the best in the country. Does anyone really still think that Miss St is the best team in the country. Ole Miss? Wisc? UGA? Mizzou? UCLA? Yea, me either.

I really think we are going to need to go to 8. You eliminate what happened this year. You lose 2 you have no excuse.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

exactly..

Dec 6, 2014, 11:41 PM

tbh i think we could make a case for almost every team in the top ten to be in it.no team has actually be a clear dominant force this year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thumbs up on correct use of dominant vs dominate! **

Very good argument I heard today though that there will just be controversy on the 9th team... And honestly if your ranked 8th do you really deserve a shot at a national title? I think 6 is perfect ... Power 5 conference winners and an at large

Of OSU played va tech today they win by 50.

That's the difference. Have Tcu or FSU improved as much as OSU?

how do you know ? they have already played once, in

columbus, ohio, at the home of the fighting buckaroo's and beat them. this is football, you don't get "do-over's".

I don't think you have a bye... If you do take away that one freakin terrible game everyone plays or just give the top two seeds a bye, hell I don't know but I just don't agree with 8 I mean if ur 8 th with two losses I don't think u deserve a shot at it IMO

in all honesty, the Big12 should be screwed over for 1 reason

Dec 6, 2014, 11:42 PM

their weenie conference commish refused to crown a champion, instead declaring "co-champions" to both.

So the 4 REAL champions should make the playoff, and the Big 12 needs to add more teams and play a 13th game.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree

Dec 6, 2014, 11:49 PM

The head-to-head tie breaker was outlined before this season started. Then they back down and declare "co-champs"? Come on, man.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Amen

Dec 7, 2014, 12:08 AM [ in reply to in all honesty, the Big12 should be screwed over for 1 reason ]

Period. The Big 12 (with 10 teams?!) is not worthy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ok I must've entirely missed that

Here is what the big 12 lists as there tie breaker rules

Tiebreaker Procedures
Effective June 2014

The following procedure will determine the Big 12 Conference representative to the Sugar Bowl (or alternate College Football Playoff game when the Sugar Bowl is a semifinal) in the event of a first-place or alternate place tie (for the avoidance of doubt, only Conference records will be used throughout the process):
If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 4 will be followed until a determination is made. Once a team has been eliminated from a multi-team comparison, it is dropped from further comparisons. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed team(s) in the conference (4, 5 and 6….).
The highest ranked team in the first College Football Playoff poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of the other in the College Football Playoff poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the College Football Playoff.
The representative will be chosen by draw.

Although this was tweeted from there conference

#Big12Insider Keep in mind that policies/rules (like co-champions, tiebreaker) are decided in votes by Big 12 schools, not Big 12 office.

I'm soooo confused!

I never believed the Big 12 would be represented in the playoffs without a CCG.
