Very impressive young man, he handled that situation with maturity and owned it. Gave props to everyone else, took responsibility for a bad day.
I think about how immature I was at his age and think wow. This guy is OK.

We all went to the game today. At dinner we were talking about the game and my 10 year old grandaughter said that D J never should have touched the Rock. What an observation. Go Tigers Go Cade

Well, she’s young and will get wiser as she matures. Can’t expect her know the intricacies of such a complicated game at 10.

There was no problem wit DJ’s effort. His execution today was not good. Hopefully you will try to teach your granddaughter to show a little more grace and thoughtfulness in the future. But it appears she may be a product of her environment. Go Tigers!! All of them.

Say What You Want About DJ But....
Oct 22, 2022, 6:22 PM

You have to admit that he's played great up until a couple of bad throws today. Added to the fact that the fumble on the one-yard line is a huge kick in the teeth for momentum's sake. I think Dabo made the right choice today, but also believe that DJ will bounce back.
There's something to be said about his character in the fact that he was benched during a game on live television and still made an effort to give credit to Cade. The humility that he's shown and the drive to improve says a lot about his character and the character of the Clemson football program. The future is bright for that young man.
GO TIGERS!

Probably the most humble mature QB we have had in Swinney's tenure. He said I just want to win. That attitude is contagious. Not sure we are Natty caliber....But that's why you play the games!!!

Night and day difference in postgame interview vs. last year
Oct 22, 2022, 7:29 PM
|
|
When he was asked last year if he had learned anything by being pulled due to poor play, his response was "No I don't feel like I learned anything!" Then he would suck on his shake and then look in camera and comb his hair multiple times. I posted that I felt he wasn't very humble and I got TD's from multiple posters.
Fast forward to today and you can see he has matured and showed much more humility. Good for him! I hope he learns and blows it out for the rest of the season. I have been pulling for him all year and plan to continue but by golly, sure is nice to know the team is in good hands. This was a big day for Cade and I am sure his confidence has gone through the roof.
Tough win, tough day for team, tough day for DJ, Great day to build the future at QB position. Thankfully we won!

Man DJ wasn't really playing THAT bad in the first half. He drove them down the field fine, but it was a couple mistakes that were magnified.
He says he wasn't hesitant, but he started doing that thing from last year where he double clutches and hesitates to pull the trigger.
Imo, I think DJ might really be a mental player more than anything. When he's in a good headspace, he's clearly elite. When he gets into a bad headspace, the mistakes start happening.
This might be something the coaches can do a better job of managing in game.
Also, WHY is Hunter Johnson not getting reps? He has experience.

I am very impressed with DJ this year. His ability to process what is in front of him, respond, and make the plays is dramatically improved. He is talented and has excellent ability to make the quick decisions required. That is, as long as his head is in the right place, I think this is something he is working on under the leadership of a head coach who is a complete person. I remember John Smoltz having a sports psychologist in the stands whom he could see while he was pitching in his early career. Everyone has challenges as they become the best they can be. This challenge is one DJ is on the way to overcoming. He is making great progress, Go DJ. Go Tigers.

Reporters were straight up but fair. DJ was mature and as an athlete myself can appreciate his perspective and the frustration of just having a bad day and trying to be better and learn for next time.

Kudos to DJU for his postgame Also to DABO showing, if warranted, he knows when to pull a player.
