Oh I knew I’d find this comment. Release the Epstein files fool. We tried to tell y’all that Trevor was ok, he just had elite receivers, Hunter Renfrow, Justyn Ross, Tee Higgins. Those guys made him look more elite than he actually was.

Jags are not and have not been a competitive team. Before TL16 they were terrible which is why they drafted #1. They also decided to let star defenders go starting with Ramsey. Both lines, dbs, wrs, tes and kicking has been trash. This year TL16 has enough to make the playoffs..my money is on him achieving that goal. Go Tigers!!!!

Well, I would love to debate this but they are not really that overly harsh. He's good, not great. All the skills and ability, but just like I have said since day one. DW4 would have beaten LSU. We had them on the ropes early but instead of scoring touchdowns we kicked field goals and punted. Trevor has more God given ability and all the measurements; but I never saw a lot of Dog in him. Some may remember that was the knock on him coming out of college. He basically said if he's not successful it would be okay. While most of us understand it made people question his desire for greatness. I will just say, Tom Brady he is not even though he has all the gifts that Tom never had. Still, heck of a career and bank account if he hung the cleats up today.

I disagree with your LSU game comments. LSU was loaded that year. One of the top 3 NFL QBs and 2 of the top 5 NFL WRs now. Ww didn't know it at the time, but it is clear now: LSU was loaded that year. Go back & watch the tape

Naaa he’s right. DW4 would have kept scoring. TL16 had a poor second half. I know the D would give up points against them but we should have been able to score against that mediocre D. When the lights were bright DW4 shinned and would have put up 40+.

We had a couple of wounded WRs in Ross and Tee that game. He had limited options. But I always thought his biggest problem was throwing with touch and Burrow has shown you don’t need the biggest gun to play that position. It’s like guys with cannons always think they can fit it in somewhere late and have trouble with screens and over-under targets. Burrow has sublime touch and anticipation.

We lost vs LSU because we couldn't cover any of their wr's. DW would have had the same issues.
TL has never really had to face adversity. He lost a game or two, but has never had to face losing. He either bucks up, or becomes clip board Jesus II.
As for Tom Brady, he was never good until he learned the system. Brady was mediocre at Michigan. He got his chance when Bledsoe went down. There just wasn't the pressure on him to be great. Anything he actually accomplished was a bonus. The patriots were already a great team when he took over. The jags have never been good during TL's time. He had one idiot for a coach and they have not recovered. Still, he needs to perform

Part of this can be chalked up to the coaching and talent around him, but even taking those factors into consideration he hasn't performed at the level expected for a top pick.
Hopefully this is the year he puts it all together.

It happened with a bunch of HOF QB's too. He just turned 25. He is fine. His team sucked. He got injured. I completely believe in him.

He needs to perform. He's already getting a reputation. It doesn't take long, in this league, to be relegated to the bench

tightened up his throwing motion and maybe some footwork issues because he seemed to be able to move quickly through his progressions and get the ball out quickly and with good velocity and accuracy. I thought he looked good.
They were also more focused on throwing the ball to Travis out of the backfield and splitting him out pre-snap to get him more involved in the passing game and the matchups he excels at.
Brief window, but no reason to not be optimistic about the season.

Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Tom Brady, Dan Marino, Don't Matter

None of those dudes would elevate JAX beyond maybe a playoff appearance the past few years. None of them were going to take them to a Super Bowl.
That said, TL ain't perfect either. He's been inconsistent. I think he does better this year with Coen at the helm. I mean, look at Baker in Tampa. Dude looks like a top 10 QB now. I think TL makes the jump this year.

Important season for Lawrence
1
Aug 11, 2025, 6:41 PM
|
|
Based on his #1 draft slot, sadly he's been a bust to date. No OL blocking. No coaching.
Burrow faced similar challenges at Cincy and elevated his team to the Super Bowl in Year 2 with no OL blocking. Burrow has had WR and GM/coaching help, but also has a much higher level of hunger and accuracy than Lawrence.
Hopefully, Lawrence will not peak at 19 years old and will turn it around this year. If not, he may have a second chance with another franchise ala Matthew Stafford. He will always have a job in the NFL as a backup if starter level does not work out. And his bank account is All-Pro level. Pulling for him.

Burrow had more talent and a better situation. The Bengals werent that awful until the year they tanked for Burrow. Burrow had a lot to more to work with. He also turned 24 in his rookie year. TL was 24 last season. Burrow is a better QB too though. He is up there with the alltime greats already. Two totally different situations though.

It really sucks when people that know the NFL game as much or more than anybody will blame Trevor's performance on him when every fan in the country that saw the Jags play, most of us saw that his O L sucked as much as any in the NFL...

Jags have been a hot mess. DW4 also played for the Texans when they had similar problems but atleast he had Hopkins and the ability to navigate the pocket under duress. Trevor just isn’t that type of QB. He needs better players around him to run an efficient/effective offense. He can make the NFL throws and scramble for a 1st down when available, but he isn’t an athlete that can elevate his game when there’s a ton of suck all around him. We’ve know that since 2019. The win against OhioSt was really the one example where he made plays to bail out an otherwise struggling offense. The Lions have a similar scenario with Goff. He fits well and plays well with a balance of talent. He’s outstanding when the Lions have skilled players healthy and an Oline keeping the pocket clean. Trevor can be that type also, but the Jags have never managed to build out the rest of the offense.

and didn’t scheme to get players open and give TL easy options. A lot of deep corners throws and the like. First year in NFL was awful with Urban. And I think Oeterson is overrated. This year should be the best chance at success at Jac.
