Exhibit I in the Chad Morris trial.

Cole Stoutd failed throughout Chad Morris' last year at Clemson as OC. Jeff Scott and Tony Elliot replaced him for the bowl game that year.
Chad make demands of Cole that were beyond Cole's ability that was obvious when Jeff and Tony altered the scheme to fit Cole's meager talent. In the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl, coached by Jeff and Tony, Cole threw for three TDs and ran one in.
That, my friends was back in the day called, 'Dancin' with the one that brung you.'
If they're playing a waltz you can't boogaloo and the shing-a-ling is going to be out of time.

fortunately, his job is to break down film and research stats, and NOT communicate with the staff or players during a live game.

On game weekends, Chad will be watching his son play

… for TCU.
I’m pretty sure it’s been reported that he won’t even be around our guys when Clemson hits the field.
I think you’re exactly right in your description of the role Chad will play this season.

it would be a violation of NCAA rules for him to do so. What he can do is attend voluntary workouts over the summer, we can thank Saban for this.

how dare you take a reasonable approach to this!
Dabo is clearly losing control of the program! Think about how this makes him look?!

Cole could not grasp the offense (his reads)

Elliott had to strip the offense for Cole, and let him run a "one read and throw or go" for the bowl game.

been a lack of talent. Either way it's academic since Cole did so well when the offense better suited his talent. We sure could have used Scott over the last couple years when we had a QB who couldn't think after the ball was snapped.

Why do you mention Scott?

It was Tony Elliott who changed the offense to help Cole speed up his decision making. It was also Elliott who called the plays.
“With Chad Morris off to SMU, the Tigers have announced that Tony Elliott will call the plays in the bowl game, per David Hood of TigerNet.com. Even with the new play-caller, the Tigers have a chance to score at least 30 points in this game.”
Scott was an OC in title only. Sure he could suggest a play when Dabo and Elliott sought input, but he was far from handling actual OC duties at Clemson. His title at any other school would have been WR Coach/Assistant Coach.

Morris is also the reason we got Deshaun Watson.

And that single occurrence made our program elite, and likely contributed to us getting Trevor Lawrence as well.
Morris also came in and toughened up what was a soft, inconsistent team before he arrived. He brought an aggressive, fearless attitude that changed our team philosophy.
He needs to be given credit for these critical points in our program.

Overall I don't really understand the benefit of bringing Chad back. But, there is plenty he might do to help improve the status quo. As you stated, we've seen a lack of offensive aggression over the last couple of years.

i've rarely ever read a JK post. but i've seen all the hype.
if he's commentary about basketball is just as good as this football post .... he's OG Clemson and just understands the dynamics of the Athletics programs

he had to have the best in the nation to do what he did. It wasn't incidental that suddenly Cole looked like a pro and revealed Morris as a one trick pony.
Giving him all the credit for DW coming to Clemson dismisses our university, football program and Dabo who is the foundational wall of what Clemson Football became during those years; it is naive, subjective and lacks intelligence.

Yes it was incidental because Cole had a shoulder injury for a majority of the regular season.

It might have also been the fact that it was against Oklahoma who had the fifth worst passing defense in the entire country in 2014.

Chad Morries Will Be A Positive

The man single handedly brought our offense to the modern era of college football.
For that, I am thankful.
My thought is; we can maybe mix in and blend some Chad Morris ideas with Kyle Richardson's ideas after GR has taken a HC position after Clemson wins the National Championship!
Dabo is playing Chess; while some other people are playing checkers!
Morris had his faults; but you can't say the offense wasn't explosive! Explosive offense is what we have gotten away from the most. Yeah B. Venables left; but we are still good there. You just can't sustain excellence though; if your offense is never sustaining drives. And, before you can make adjustment; your back on the field(another of Morris's errors during his time as OC).
Time: Time usually matures the wise! Most people learn through their mistakes and my guess is: Chad Morris has learned through his.

People forget that Dabo and Chad were pretty friendly.......I think having him back as an analyst is a good idea. His offensive schemes were innovative (sometimes a little too cute) and brought our offense into the modern age.

Great post and spot on!! Morris did not show the ability to adapt to the talent available. He was horrible his last year here, both as a scheme designer and a play caller. Most were glad to see him go. I hope he is here to learn and not to teach.

My desire to see him go was as much about him interviewing and trying to get away from Clemson. It was embarrassing to see him turned down so many times.
I suspect he will be on everybody's long list from day one. Imo, it will be more beneficial for him to be here than for us. He should be paying for his coaching lessons.
