RB Recruiting

Of our 3 current ‘23 RBs with offers, 2 have dropped us from consideration. Richard Young and Cedric Baxter Jr. have removed us from their top groups. That leaves only Justice Haynes.
Last I heard, he really liked us and we were pretty much only competing with OSU and UGA for his commitment.
How up to date that information is, I’m not sure…
Either Spiller has doubled down on pursuing Haynes, OR maybe people like Trotsky are right and Spiller is a poor recruiter.
Hopefully that is not the case and we have only doubled down on Haynes and that’s why no other RBs are considering us. Otherwise, I believe that would make Coach 0-3 or 0-4 in RB recruiting. That’s not to knock his coaching ability or the abilities of Keith Adams Jr or Jarvis Green (if we settle on recruiting him instead)!
However, it would be nice to pull in a highly touted RB recruit relatively soon

They probably got offered much more money than we could afford, and we're going to see much more of us getting out bid/recruited!!!

Maybe so but we need a fall back guy who at least has a P5offer other than Clemson. Swinging for the fences then striking out thin giving the ship to a walk-on level talent won’t get it done for long

I’m not ready to call him a poor recruiter yet. I’m sure his closing skills will only get better sooner than later.

Don’t sleep on Jarvis Green. The kid can play.
We better not back burner him like we did Antonio either. He may end up somewhere else.

Maybe but why so P5 offers? What is everyone missing?

I specifically said I wasn’t trying to knock the skills of Jarvis Green… he’s a better athlete than I could ever hope to be, but I would still like for Spiller to land a blue chip recruit sometime soon.

I've been off the site for a few months. Nice to see you're still a loser who posts the same comment to everything.

This -- hard to say if CJ really is failing on the recruiting front or if there is more to this like NIL deals sweeping some of these recruits.
I mean, as a RB, you're already considered expendable by the NFL so I could honestly see where some of these kids wanna maximize potential earnings since the NFL is just eating good RB careers left & right after a few years.

Hard to recruit a position when you have 3 guys that will be around for another 3 years. Will, Kobe, and Phil are young. Have to be honest with recruits.

True but 3 is a low number when you take the possibility of injuries into consideration. A really talented kid could move up the depth chart fast even without someone above him getting injured.

Only competing with OSU and UGA? First, when have we EVER beaten Jawga for a RB? They will recruit 3 per season, two of which are top 150 dudes. It is actually head scratching, but something about it works. As to OSU, they get their fair share as well and will have a nasty O line, hard to not wanna play with that. Sadly I think there is a wait and see approach for a lot of kids. Wait, see what new coaching staff does. Wait and see what the line looks like. Wait, see if QB will take the load off of the RB rooms. As to Haynes, it shows that he is cool on us as opposed to warm for Bama and others.

Well Haynes currently is crystal balling 100 percent to Georgia looks like some of those rb’s at Georgia will be hitting the portal , no way some of those kids will ever see the field? They ate loaded at rb position.

He has a lot of top offers. We haven’t offered yet.

Michigan, UT, Miami, FSU, Va Tech among others have offered him.
Like I say, he’s visited twice unofficially. Once very recently.
We may be waiting to see how our top three targets shake out. Looks like that’s starting to clear up pretty quickly.

Haynes is the better of the three. I hope we can pry him away from UGA. We probably offer other RBs before Green. Like Adams Jr, we’ll likely wait until the very end to offer. He might be seriously underrated. Who knows?
But, yeah, at some point we have to questions Spiller’s ability to recruit.

I don’t understand why all of the responsibility falls on Spiller.

He’s just the RB coach.
Streeter, Grisham, and Dabo are also responsible for our RB recruiting (arguably more so than Spiller).

Why aren’t you willing to acknowledge the important role

our director of recruiting, offensive coordinator, and head coach play in recruiting RBs?
It sounds like you just don’t want to blame certain people for recruiting misses.
