What they did bringing in Oteil on bass, Derek Trucks (best slide guitar player on the planet) and Warren Haynes was pretty #### epic
That’s a solid band of stellar stand alone musicians.
For anyone who does like the Allmans and hasn’t checked into Tedeschi Trucks Band, do yourself the favor… they may not be your favorite band, but definitely one of the most talented touring bands around. Definitely under appreciated.

I saw TTB just this summer and they are a fantastic live ban=d as well. And you are right. Derek trucks is doing things with the slide guitar that no one has done before - or as well.

Pink Floyd is overrated. I like them, but they're not in that convo.
Zeppelin had reputation of not being a good live show. To me, that's a huge part of it. The story about them pulling the plug on Grand Funk mid show bc they were showing them up is hilarious. If you're one of the GOATS, you don't get shown up by a group like GFR.

Apparently, that and Bonham's drinking whiskey and tooting, could take a toll on live shows. It's a miracle some survived. Bonham and mgr Peter Grant did not.

Are you kidding ?
The Allman Brothers have produced 12 studio albums, 16 live albums (with countless, quality bootlegs available on youtuber), and 18 compilations - all over the course of fifty years of doing it all live - with no reduction of quality or intensity.
Those are some great bands, but they all ran out of gas while ABB was constantly regenerating their imagination and improvisation.

Plenty of material but not a lot of Pinnacle stuff. I’ve listened to the Allman brothers ad nausea. Fillmore East is probably the best Live album made, but I think these other bands just had much more peak quality work. I mean good God, how many albums has AC/DC had? but they have two albums, highway to hell and back in black, that are pinnacle work. The rest is just iterations of those two great albums

Tobias - yes I’ve watched all the documentaries and read stuff Henley and Frey didn’t want to get out. I fall squarely on the side of Meisner and Felder in that whole split. Frey and Henley were despicable, egotistical and greedy beyond all limits. To this day Henley has people monitoring YouTube and constantly taking down all Eagles videos not authorized/monetized by him and that producer. And Meisner is in a medical tailspin. Felder stands alone on his talent and occasionally jabs legally at Henley and the Eagles.
