That same logic applied to defense is exactly opposite of your defense of the defense here.

It's really amazing how little you all seem to know about defensive football.
What kind of defense is Allen supposed to call without a DL that can hold up against the run or literally anyone in the secondary that can cover a guy man to man? Allen is catching the #### end of poor development by Wes and the rest of a defensive staff he had no part in building.

I am being tutored by several very knowledgeable TNETTRs and know a lot more about football than I did just a few days ago.
But you're right, if the DL can't get push and the secondary can't handle man coverage, it's probably Wes Goodwin's fault.

Wes Goodwin set the attitude of the defense the last three years. There's a reason defensive development at all three levels fell off a cliff when Venables left despite the secondary coaching not changing at all. Wes Goodwin completely changed the attitude of the defensive side of the ball for the worse and acting like Allen can fix that in one off-season with all the same rot in position coaches and players in place is naive.

The talent was there. Allen has demonstrated no more ability to motivate ( he wanted to be in the box for God’s sake ) while having a fraction of the ability to scheme. He is a complete disaster and you have zero analytical skills.

Lots of OC's and DC's call from up in the box. Out of the teams currently ranked in the top 10 six out of the ten team's DC call defensive plays from up in the press box. It's a stupid point you try to make.
FYI--Allen was calling from down on the field Saturday as he did the previous game.

You’re arguing against things I didn’t say. I’m well aware that many call from the box and that Allen has moved down to the field. The point was that Goodwin was always regarded as perfectly suited to play calling. It’s a widely held consensus. This issue was presented that he lacked the personality to get the kind of buy-in from players that Brent could. But if Goodwin couldn’t it also stands to reason no one else on the defensive staff was filling this role either. So hiring a new DC and distancing him from role that most needed replacing makes no sense. And the results are showing themselves in real time. The low iq brandishing on this site is really tedious.

I think most of the blame lies on Mike Reed. CB play has been horrendous this season. And Terrell been called for PI almost every game this season. Then whoever is coaching the linebackers along with Ben Boulware, they can’t come cover anybody. Big pass plays of doomed us almost every game.

One of Dabo’s biggest mistakes was firing Wes rather than moving him to the box and finding a co-DC with the Venables fire. And I guarantee that our last two coordinators coming from playoff teams is a young ADs idea of “big hires”. Dabo needs to shut out the noise in all directions and start making the kind of decisions he made in 2009-2012. He’s got a lot more to work with now than he had then despite what the doomers on here believe. They’re back to believing 6 straight playoffs was blind dumb luck with an idiot head coach. Never mind that none of the genius head coaches they want to hire have managed anything close - even though it’s so easy.

The coaches with no experience and Allen have set up a corn maze for them to navigate. It's the find the QB to blitz scheme. So far, they remain lost in the corn maze and have to be guided out by Allen. That's why he wanted to be in the box during games. He was used to overhead views of them being in the corn maze. Put him on the field and he is as lost as the players.

He is only months into cleaning up the mess he inherited, most notably poor player development.
It says a lot when arguably his best player is a portal pickup.
He did great at Penn State, just as Riley did great at TCU. We should be asking ourselves why successful and in-demand coordinators come to Clemson and seem so much worse.

Wes ran the D into the ground for three years. It will take time to turn it around. However, when implementing a 4-2-5, you better have some gap sound athletic freaks at LB or opposing running games are going to feast. Brown is going to be good in whatever system you put him. Alexander has flashed but losing out on Tyler Atkinson was a big deal. Got to go portal shopping for this scheme to work because the Tigers just don't have the dudes to pull it off.
