There are only 3 PAC-12 schools in CA. And since a 4-year scholarship to Stanford is worth about half a million I doubt there's much moaning coming from Palo Alto.

A few years ago, California wanted to secede from the U.S. I think we should allow them to do so. They will be bankrupt in a few weeks.

Literally NO ONE is asking California to stay in the USA...

Over the past several years they would have MAJOR problems balancing a budget on their own. The answer is to always raise taxes.

Actually, there’s 4. 33% of the Pac 12.
California, the socialist bastion, boasts: - the highest tax rate in the country - half of the entire country’s homeless population (one Dr said the bubonic plague exists on skid row) - $125 million stimulus package for UNDOCUMENTED Illegal Immigrants - 2/3rds Democrat majority in both houses - the largest teachers union in the country, who’s demanding a defunding of police before they reopen
Yep, that’s the same state leading the charge to dismantle our country.

You're right....i forgot about USC....same deal as Stanford though.
You know you can point out all the flaws of California....and there are some. But point to me a place that's perfect I know i live in the mountains where the high today was 70 and I have beautiful views from every window. I live about halfway between San Francisco and Napa in a town of about 35,000. Come visit sometime....I promise those things you point out you won't even know exist.
1 in 8 Americans live in California and it is the world's 5th largest economy. Before Covid, unemployment was at about 2% (almsot 1% in the Bay Area) so it must not be too bad.

There are places in California that are very nice but...

The unemployment rate has never been 2%. I just moved from LA a few months ago. The homeless rate is closer to 2% than the unemployment rate was. There is a reason people are moving out in DROVES to AZ, NV, OR, and ID. The only reason the population isn't dropping much faster is due to the illegal population moving in nearly as fast to replace US citizens. This 2020 Census will create the first time California has ever lost an Electoral Seat in its history. Again, beautiful state but not nearly close to perfect.
Also as a note, Texas and New York would be the 9th and 10th largest economies in the world while Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania would be the 17th, 18th and 19th largest respectively. Kinda a nod to how strong the US economy is.

Sorry i was wrong on the unemployment numbers. CA was 3.5% in Feb and the Bay Area was 2.5%.
It's interesting how many people want to point out the negative things about places where they don't live. At the end of the day, I like it here. We have a very nice life.
I'm not from Anderson, SC but very close and most of my family lives in Anderson. I think it's a very nice medium size city with a lot to offer. But there is a homeless problem there and it's more than you might think. I know this because my sister volunteers with an organization that helps feed the homeless. And a lot of folks have moved out of Anderson to the Powdersville/Wren area for the big houses out that way. People aren't moving to Anderson in any substantial numbers. And the crime is pretty bad for a city that size. But if someone came on this board and said they lived in Anderson, I would say ''nice place to live'. Why ram everything that is wrong with it at them? It's like preaching to the choir. And I would be honest when I said that because that's what i feel.
So what's the point? It doesn't change my opinion of where I live. My job transferred me here ...wow, 30 years ago. We made a life here. Lots of friends from my work and other activities. People love to come visit. And if I catch the flights right I can be in SC within 7 hours as I used to do 7 or 8 times in the fall (I hope things change so this fall is the same).
Everyone is entitiled to their opinion on anything. I'm only suggesting you might ask "why" before you jump into a negative spin on something as big and broad as the largest state in this country. And if CA loses an electoral vote, who really cares? We already have the largest by far and I don't think it's going to make much difference to anyone.

Cali? I know what its like. I know its positives. I know its negatives. Comparing Anderson in SC is like comparing Oakland or East LA to California. I'm sure you love living near Napa and I'm sure many would love to live near Laguna Beach or Malibu. But you are in a very small minority with your location. I was making 6 figures and couldn't afford a 2 bedroom apartment/condo in LA, SD, or SF. For me that doesn't make sense. Everyone is welcome to their opinion though.

We have a friend who chose to move from Anderson to LA 15 years ago. She is a teacher and she lives neatly in poverty. But hey it’s “like so cool because she like gets to like live in LA”.

I wasn't comparing Anderson - that would be silly. I was pointing out that telling someone who already lives there what's wrong is like preaching to the choir. We already know it. And as far as the cost of living - which is for the most part housing - 40 million people have figured it out. And price is simply a function of supply and demand so the demand is certainly there. Covid is going to have an impact so there may be some "deals" coming up in some areas.

8 athletes. Wow. By the way, 99.9% of Californians don't surf. California has every type of person...farmers etc.
