Best team in CFB history?

There were a lot of great teams back in the day like Nebraska, Oklahoma, Miami, FSU, etc.
But there’s been some of the greatest teams come through in the last 2 decades. FSU 2013 would really get my vote. That team was was so fast I don’t think Saban has ever had more talent. Rashad Greene, Devontae Freeman, and that Kermit Whitfield Kickoff Return against Auburn was the best thing I’ve ever seen.
Also of course is Miami in early 2000s, LSU 2019, Clemson 2018.
Sidenote, Clemson 2019 would have by far been the best team in history in my opinion. But it’s not noticed because we actually were beaten by at least the best offense ever with the best QB season ever. We had that game after the Tee Higgins TD 17-7. That one hurt. But the 2019 Clemson team literally dismantled every team they played.

Good debate but to me and most pundits 2001 Miami is #1 and it’s not close. 2-5 is good for conversation. Mine would be: 2. 1995 Nebraska 3. 2004 USC 4. 2019 LSU 5. 2018 Clemson
2013 FSU would definitely be in the 6-10 range for me.

What I meant was Saban hadn’t had any teams like that during his dynasty at Alabama.

1. Clemson 2018
Side note, Clemson 2019 wasn’t as good as Clemson 2018. 2013 FSU doesn’t warrant top 5 consideration.

Bama was being touted as the Greatest. College. Football. Team. Of. All. Time. Right up until we dominated them. Sooooo…. it’s us. No question, indisputable.

When you consider results, draft picks and how they have performed in the league, the LSU team that won the Championship in the 2019 season has to be in the top 3 but I would pick I would pick one of the great Miami teams as the best. Tough question because you cannot compare teams from different eras.

2018 Clemson. They were saying all throughout the playoffs that Alabama was the best team in college football history, and we demolished them. How can their be any doubt? Go Tigers!!!

You forget how tired Bama were after their brutal sec schedule.
Bama was so brave to keep going game after game and it finally caught up with them the morning of our game against them.

Great selections but all that have been mentioned are within the last 15-20 years. “All time” covers a lot of ground. For us old people, there were a few Army and ND teams from the 40’s that rank. How about Fielding Yost’s point-a-minute teams. A number of Oklahoma and Nebraska teams from 60’s and early 70’s. Even Washington had a 63 game unbeaten streak, that was back in the days of just 9 or 10 game seasons. Not to forget some of Royal’s Texas teams or early Bryant teams at Bama. And don’t leave out Georgia and Clemson of 1980-1981.

Dude you just sound delusional. I understand what you’re saying, but no one was going to stop their offense. I don’t care what college defenses you would put out there, they were going to score as they did.
Burrow and Chase are doing the same thing against NFL defenses and making it look like child’s play. None of anybody’s corners in football history would have stopped it.
Along with Justin Jefferson, who is actually regarded as the #1 OVERALL PLAYER the NFL. And he also burned us.

With Jeff Scott: Clemson and Alabama alternate championships and recruiting.
Alabama won Clemson won [Alabama rebuild] Alabama won Clemson won [Alabama rebuild] LSU won [Clemson rebuild]
After Jeff Scott:
Alabama won [ Should have been Clemson but Tony Elliot was a non-compete against Ohio State ] Georgia won [ Tony Elliot was a non-compete against Georgia in Charlotte and mid tier ACC teams] Georgia won [ Should have been Clemson but Brandon Streeter was a non-compete against everyone ]
back to the 2019 NC
LSU had NFL QB and WRs and OC Clemson had the worst OCs since pre-Chad Morris
We would have run up the score into the 40s with Jeff Scott and Dabo calling shots

I just know they were better because I didn’t really understand what was happening.
We went up 17-7 on a historic TD by Tee Higgins on the jet sweep. It was a truly underrated TD in Clemson history, or would’ve been had we won. Had all the momentum. This is about the time where Terrell started to fold, and we had no answer. We couldn’t stop anything.
I always felt that we should’ve used Travis as the central game plan. They had better secondary than D-Line, and maybe we could’ve made it a much more slow and physical game. But that’s not our offense.
The 2019 Clemson team really had zero fallback from 2018. Defense was definitely a slight back, but Isiah Simmons and some others were still top players.
Would’ve been the best championship for this program. Would have been back to back. Would have been right in LSU’s backyard. It was all there for us.

If we go back a few decades the undefeated 12-0 1981 Clemson Tigers 🐅 were underrated and they should be number 1 because of their defense!

2018 season. Now, many want to say it was 2019 LSWho.
I would love for AI to match up 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU, and see who comes out on top. That would be a great game, no matter what!
Honestly, even with my Orange colored glasses on, I think the best all time would be one of those two. NFL talent running all over the place on both of those squads.

Tough to beat 2001 Miami. 17 first round draft picks. 38 players drafted including 19 starters. 13 pro bowlers. 2018 bama was all hype. If you watched them during the year their D was average at best, especially their secondary. Nothing like their 2011-12 teams.

2001 Miami had the most talent IMO. They were loaded everywhere.
2019 LSU put up video game numbers. They were loaded on offense.
Would have loved to see the 2018 Clemson team against that LSU team.

I'd go with Miami 2001, Nebraska 1995, Clemson 2018, Georgia 2022, And Florida State 1993
Honorable mention would be Nebraska 1981, I know Clemson beat that team, but it had more talent than almost any other team in history I feel.
