Hackett one of several who could save TL16 from Jags ####

TL16 is no doubt at a crossroads early in his career. His receivers are bad, his OL is worse, and his coaching has been even worse.
Green Bay OC is one on several OC's that could keep TL16 from becoming the next Tim Couch or David Carr NFL washout. These Jags are pitiful.
My take is the Jags are so bad, it will take 3-4 years to win. Priority #1 is to trade the 2022 No. 1 pick for quality young NFL o-linemen and multiple #1, #2 and #3 draft picks to draft more linemen. The Defense will have to limp through 2022 again as priority is given to rescuing TL16.

It's tough with no blocking, no receivers and no play calling. 2021 was a complete bust, and TL16 is at the bottom of NFL QB ratings. Not TL16's fault, but it comes with being the #1 pick. Peyton Manning and Troy Aikman were Year 1 busts losing all games but turned it around quickly. Hoping TL16 has a similar story, but as good as he is, he can't do it alone in NFL.

Once again I say that no organization that thought Urban Meyer was the right hire for an NFL franchise with a #1 #1 QB pick has no chance whatsoever of making any correct decisions going forward.

Meyer had nothing with how bad they are, he was just on the scene of a disaster.

The decision to hire him is an indictment of that organization’s decision making process.

Meyer certainly was responsible for low morale and questionable decisions. When your rookie quarterback has to beg you to put in your #1 running back who you benched just because of one fumble...it's bad. When you kick your kicker and tell him that you can do whatever you want because you are the effing head coach, it's bad. Those are just two examples.

The smart play would be trade TL16 and get draft picks. This would help TL and the Jags.

That won't happen. TL was drafted 1 and paid a huge salary as the foundation on which to build the team. Nobody expected an instant turnaround. It's a terrible team but they really have an acute issue at WR. TL was throwing to practice squad players in multiple games. His WR's simply never got open. The OL was bad, but when he was given enough time to throw his only open receiver would be a check down. They had no explosive plays down the field the entire season. The run game was almost average against weak teams but unable to do anything against the better teams. TL forced quite a few bad throws trying to make something happen as they had no other option. When that didn't work he protected the ball, took fewer chances, and simply threw for very few yards. They kept it close in some of those games and were one play away from winning maybe 3 or 4 games. All the tools are still there. He makes the right reads, rifle arm, and accurate if allowed to set his feet. As bad as it seems, they are maybe 2 receivers, 1 OL, 1 DL, 1 lb and a cover corner away from winning 5-6 games. It's simply going to take better players and of course a better coach will be needed. I don't think a different coach would have made a huge difference this year unless he could run routes and find a way to get open downfield. They will pick 1st or second again this year. I look for the wins to double next year and for TL's qb rating to move in tandem with an improvement in his supporting cast.
