year hosts a regional, then wins a super regional, and makes it to Omaha. Do you still say Jack has to go after this season?

his team is not winning a super regional. JL has them tight as a tick in big games, and that is only going to get worse. His style,(arrogant, pompous yankee who may be an atheist)is only going to deepen the hole our baseball team is in. Change needs to be quick or it is going to get real ugly.

I have to agree. Even going back to that nightmare in Omaha (2002?)when they just killed us 2 games in a row, ESPN showed each coach's pep talk before the game. Tanner was all loose and telling his player to have fun while Jack was lecturing his team to not screw up. They were wound up so tight I could see it coming. And that's when we really had more talent than the coots. Now you see him telling the players to calm down when they start goofing up. I think his general approach makes his players psyches "fragile" and that's not a good thing in baseball.

I think that's obviously Jack's weakness...

Baseball is not a game where you can play tight or angry. Baseball is best played when loose and having fun. Every year I hope Jack can mellow with age, and every year he seems to let us down. Unless he learns to loosen himself and his guys up, we will mostly fail when needing it most. In my opinion, that has been the secret to the c0cks success the last few years - they play loose and have fun, no matter the circumstances.

Regardless of how this season turns out, Jack will continue to lose to the gamebirds. Not likely he is going to host any regional this year and not likely he will ever go back to the CWS. His staying will only lead to more frustration for Tiger fans. He should have been gone after he was eliminated the first time in the CWS about 12 years ago by the gamebirds. Not just because he was eliminated by them, but because he was beat by a pitcher who wanted to come to Clemson and had strong Clemson ties. Jack thought he had too much baggage. Ray Tanner either didn't think he had too much baggage or was able to deal with it. Jack has sent players who had Clemson ties to the gamebirds that were a big part of them winning their Baseball National Championship. I doubt they would have won those National Championships without Scott Wingo.
He may be a Hall of Fame coach, but I doubt there are many coaches who are not Hall of Fame who would have lost the game in Columbia last night with a 5 run lead that far into the game.

I may be in favor of a new direction but what if "after this

season" it ended up being pretty successful? There is plenty of time for that, by the way. Not saying its going to happen, but I am saying it's entirely too early to throw in the towel and assume we're going to fail.

It's just really frustrating to see us play so continuously "tight" against them. Bill nailed it with the word "happiness", I think.

Agree. Right now USC simply has better players plus they have gotten in the heads of the football and baseball teams. The only way I know to reverse this is to beat them at least periodically.

it's way too early to quit and start the "fire" train. Not optimistic, necessarily, but confidently hopeful we can improve. Not pessimistic, just taking a wait and see attitude. What other options are there?

The last 4 year since we were embarrassed in the CWS has been in steady decline. We have fallen behind UVA, UNC, FSU And NC State in the conf and I don't see anything changing this year. Since 2006 we've shown a lot of inconsistency at the plate and fielding. The best days have certaintly passed
