He should have said...we're a program that closes the upper deck of a pro football stadium so the other team doesn't bring more people than we do...I didn't think anyone would notice.

I was at the GT game and there were a ton of seats available in the lower bowl. Opening the upper deck didn't prevent anyone from attending the game.

Regardless of whether seats were available or not (and yes there were as I was there too) that’s the reason given by GT officials. They bragged they did the same against UNCheat in an earlier season and they won. Their strategy was to limit Clemson fans in the stadium. So yea, that was the intent.

a chance to win is excusable.

He justified surrender with no chance of more loss. I understand that in a war where men's lives are at stake but if anything, what he said added insult to injury to his teammates and shows him unfit to lead.

Don't make matters worse by trying to justify or rationalize a boneheaded decision.

The answer is, you gave-up on the play instead of trying to give someone on your team a chance to make a play.

You made a mistake. Own it and accept the responsibility for it. Learn from it and get better because of it, but don't try to rationalize and justify it.
