Greg Fluguar reporting ACC meeting next week...

.... to discuss ACC contrtact.
Greg is not one of my go to guys. He tends to say, "I know something big, but I can't tell you." Some folks apparently eat that up. I'm not one of them.
Just thought I'd mention it here (especially since FSU AD was at hoops game this afternoon) and see if anybody here had heard anything.

Maybe they're announcing they are going to dissolve lol. It's a bad conference in both football and basketball and geographically ridiculous to boot.

Doesn't ESPN have a big decision coming up pretty soon?

I'm sure that'll reignite the conference realignment chatter.

Agree re. Flugaur talking for an hour and telling his listeners nothing. He is good at tossing out the idea which eventually may come about. So, in this case, I think the ESPN has made the ACC an offer to extend the contract that is going to be less money than the ACC was expecting. Or, it could be ESPN OFFERING MORE MONEY if the ACC meets certain conditions and does scheduling that gives ESPN better game matchups and times and games on certain days. All that would have to be voted on by the schools.
Personally, I hope they let ESPN walk and pursue a streaming deal with other outlets.

The PAC 12 learned that streaming deals pay far less than ESPN or Fox

ESPN has already announced that they are going to all streaming soon. That way, they Don't have to pay the cable tv fees. Streaming is the future. Netflix is looking at getting into cfb.

I believe that’s the opposite?? Cable companies would not have to pay ESPN’s prices. Will be great for a lot of folks that want cable tv but could care less about ESPN. Biggest contributor to your high catv bills and it’s not even close.
Tickles me to hear all these fans scream about conference money like it just appears out of nothing. I’m paying for the ESPN+ and for YouTubetv. I’m a real idiot.

Thank you. You are correct. Direct tv does pay Disney.

If the ACC has no contract then it will PAC 10 and we will be all doomed...probably done for anyway! OSU may buy a team and win a natty...we will not be doing that! Aquatic poultry can't do it and we will not either...Clemson can't have it both ways!

Some here just never have anything good say, and I'm not saying that the ones that are mostly negative have a miserable life, but it certainly sounds that way...

This is pure speculation on my part as i have no knowledge of what may actually be happening between the ACC and ESPN. Pure speculation.
SO, what if this is going to be what ESUCK has presented to ACC as the agreement to extend the contract to 2036 with the following conditions:
1. A 7% yearly increase 2. If any team leaves the conference, the contract is void. 3. If any team is added to conference, the contract is void. 4. ESUCK has complete control over conference scheduling regarding team match ups, time and day games are played, and what tv network the games will be broadcast. 5. If any additional ACC conference schools sue the ACC, the contract is void and if the ACC settles any on going lawsuit without ESUCK APPROVAL, the contract is void.
IN short, ESUCK takes complete control of the ACC.
The Acc should tell ESUCK, we will get bids from other tv media outlets and then we will consider your proposal after we have all the bids in hand and all issues in the bids are favorable to the best interests of the ACC, ITS ATHLETES, SCHOOLS, DONORS, SUPPORTERS, AND FANS.
SCREW THE ESUCK.
AND CLEMSON SHOULD TELL THE ACC ANY NEW CONTRACT OR CHANGE IN CURRENT CONTRACT VOIDS CLEMSON BEING A PARTY TO THAT CONTRACT AND RELEASES CLEMSON FROM BEING A MEMBER OF THE ACC AND THE ACC NO LONGER HAS ANY CONTROL OVER CLEMSON ATHLETICS, ITS MEDIA RIGHTS AND CLEMSON OWES THE ACC NOT ONE CENT ON EXIT.
Once again pure speculation on my part.

There are actually two agreements with ESPN signed in 2016. BOTH run to 2036. The base agreement that deals with ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 has a looking in clause but the agreement for the ACCN does not have a look in clause. If ESpin does not extend base agreement media rights still stays in effect. Seams we are stuck in conf for a while.

What bothers me about this league is how dumb our commissioners always seem to be. The officiating is the worst in the country and it's not even close...
They don't promote the league correctly and most importantly they let ESPN trash us non stop without mercy... it's like a job for them to bash us...and our stupid commish just stands there and does nothing.
I don't want a " new " ACC.. I want out. Period.

I was hoping they are voting to kick us and FSU out.
I'm guessing it's a 1 percent raise or maybe it's another CW type deal with no extra money where ESPN is moving some games to Comedy Central or the Cartoon Network.

I don't think Esuck was very happy with the ACC going 2-12 in the bowl games. Not a good look for them and probably had poor ratings with few eyeballs on games.
