Great wrestlers make great football players

I saw a post about Tyler Shatley and how he’s put together a nice NFL career. That got me thinking about players we’ve had in the program who were decorated high school wrestlers and the advantage those guys have over others in understanding leverage and positioning. Also, to be a successful wrestler you have to be an extremely hard worker and be committed.
The three that stand out in my memory are Tyler Shatley, Grady Jarret, and Gage Cervenka. All those guys had great careers at Clemson and are all in the NFL currently. Does anyone else remember other former Clemson players who were high school wrestlers?

I believe Will Putnam was a standout HS wrestler in Florida.

Wrestlers have great balance and fast feet. We have had a few wrestlers and usually they are good players. I know Iowa likes to recruit DL and LBs with wrestling experience. I think basketball really helps WRs, learn to elevate and you have to have good body control and coordination to dribble and drive the lane.
DJ Reader was a baseball player and soccer player. He just signed a nice contract with Cleveland, I think. But he is multi-sport that is doing well.
