Twitter hasn't banned him. Pretty sure he's violated multiple terms of their service.
Although we know Twitter lets it ride so they can get the publicity.

One of Trumpies' dumbest arguments: "What has he personally done to you?!"
That isn't the litmus test for pointing out a ###### president. Those who still support him have been swindled on a level that would make P.T. Barnum proud.

Maybe, the complaints about Trump from the media will eventually exhaust the middle of the road listeners. I know the kneejerk from the politicians won't stop but some of the public may numb to the noise considering it audio pollution.
After a year break from politics I'm enjoying being entertained at the shouts and cries.

“This isn’t evidence of a pattern of anti-conservative bias since some Republicans still appear and some don’t. This just appears to be a cluster of conservatives who have been affected,” said New York Law School Professor Ari Ezra Waldman, who testified at the House Judiciary Committee’s April hearing on social media filtering and is the author of Privacy as Trust: Information Privacy for an Information Age. “If anything, it appears that Twitter’s technology for minimizing accounts instead of banning them just isn’t very good.”

Deep State conspiracy is separate from the MSM liberal bias
Jul 26, 2018, 11:21 AM
[ in reply to i mustve missed the Deep state thing. ] |

The two work hand-in-hand, but are separate. The Deep State is the FISA warrants issued based on a known false piece of opposition research to launch a fake investigation into something that was never there to begin with. It's the intelligence community blaming Benghazi on a YouTube video instead of calling it a terrorist attack. It's the FBI saying no reasonable prosecutor would prosecute Hillary for having an email server in her bathroom which she used to send classified documents and later destroyed without honoring a subpoena. All THAT stuff is the deep state attacking Trump and aiding Hillary.
Twitter, etc. falls under the MSM, which all leans or falls over left.

would it? Deep state is basically the FEDERAL intelligence and law enforcement agencies and their associated bureaucrats. It also branches out to other executive departments and bureaucrats as well. It ain't Twitter though.

Are we just ignoring that your FISA talking point is wrong?
Jul 26, 2018, 4:07 PM
[ in reply to Deep State conspiracy is separate from the MSM liberal bias ] |

The Deep State conspiracy is a reaction to try to fight the russia/trump investigation with a "look over there, they are the bad guys" strategy. Some of it works better than others - remember the Obama is spying on me with the microwave claim? - which is why Hillary is still used as part of the conspiracy. Trump's base will believe anything about her so it makes sense to use her to build the conspiracy around.
The Conspiracy also started on 4chan (similar to pizzagate...) with QAnon and spread to Trump's supporters. So, either you are on the side that has 4chan trolls as your support or you have the intelligence communities and courts of the United States as your support (many being republicans themselves).

Jul 26, 2018, 5:19 PM

The Trump-ites just picked up where those folks left off because of all the leaks that were intended to influence policy. Of course, a lot of that has to do with Trump's dysfunctional management style.

Not defending Trump, but shadowbanning is real.
Jul 26, 2018, 10:48 AM
|
|
It has happened to me. It's not really a deep state conspiracy. It's part of the flawed algorithm that Twitter uses to reduce viewership of certain type of content that may be considered "harmful or offensive." I don't believe anyone is targeting all conservatives directly, but depending on the topics they discuss they can have their voices limited in several different ways.
This also happens to subjects outside of politics. I know it happens a lot to cryptocurrency enthusiasts. It also happens a lot regarding Russia or international topics than involve American criticism of Russia. (The criticism isn't being shadow-banned, its the argument with the criticism. This has more to do with the fallout over election "meddling."

Jul 26, 2018, 11:11 AM

Politically correct people aggressively assume that their opinions are facts and then the banning becomes justified.
This behavior is exactly how someone like Trump got elected. Frustration with one side controlling the facts.

So this dude had a purely ad saying he supported the 2nd amendment and the NRA. These companies have made their algorithms so that is you are for guns, or against "illegal" aliens or against abortion, you get banned!
If you want to continue to be an idiot, please proceed. But you know #### well what is going on. These algorithms are put in to ban certain legit thinking.
Now go hide in your safe space.

Yeah that is more than enough. Yeah makes sense. In the current climate that would be bad business. If he were promoting fiscal conservatism there would be no issue. Promoting guns is niche issue. It's touchy and bad business. That would be like them running adds promoting abortion. It would be bad business. You can't alienate half of your customers.

I know this from firsthand experience. "They" being algorithms. I do not believe that "conservatives" as a whole are being targeted though. I think the odds of that are very low.
It's subject matter based.

Promoting the 2nd Amendment (which I'm totally for and am a responsible gun owner) is obviously promoting guns. Guns are tied very very closely to violence and other dangerous triggers to the algorithms. It's obvious Facebook (and Twitter) have their algorithms to flag more on the false positive end of the spectrum.

who doesn't care about or want guns to have to think about or look at guns. I was shadow-banned for a thread about the historical context of the 2nd Amendment. It was lifted quickly, but it shows that the interpretation is very loose.
Those who decried the 2nd Amendment and used the same vocabulary like "guns" "murder" shootings" etc don't seem to be effected to nearly the same degree. That makes you wonder.
The other times I was shadowbanned was for discussing the Syrian War and the other was for discussing cryptocurrencies.
From what I can tell, 2nd Amendment debates are the most biased on Twitter. Even extreme misogyny (involving threatening and explicit language) directed at female 2A supporters went unpunished.

experience only confirms, to me, that the shadow-banning is real.
The first time I knew I was shadow-banned it was because Twitter actually notified me. It said something like, my tweets were not going to be seen by people who do not follow me for the next 48 hours. The reason given was extremely vague, something like, "Twitter's policies against abusive or harmful content."
I do not know the extent of how much the other "side" was effected beyond the fact I could still see their content despite the fact I was not following them. So I deduced that their "punishment" did not equate to mine.
But again, I am not offering proof so take it however you want it.

just not showing up on searching algorithms, as well as "Did You See?" or whatever other promotional ways Twitter gets new content to viewers. Which would explain why you could see their stuff.
The fact you were notified by Twitter makes me think others are notified as well.
Thanks for sharing though, it is interesting, and seems like you got caught up in a false report (someone didn't like what you said so they reported it like a little bitch) and then flagged by the algorithm (because it was close enough - the false positives).
None of this is indicative of a shady practice done by Twitter out to get conservatives, does it seem that way to you?

I'm not a republican, but there is definitely a liberal bias on Twitter. There are many slight ways to manipulate things on Twitter. That's why "shadowbanning" is the term for it.
"Liberal" and politically correct voices have a much better platform on Twitter. The same is true for Neo-cons who are socially liberal( or silent on social issues). It's an uphill battle for those opposing them.

That means it's targeted to help the snowflakes stay in their safe place. Which means it targets Republicans by its very nature. Liberals are always offended over something. Republicans generally are not.

Shadowbanned is different than being outright banned.

And I know it is against your nature to know much specifics about a topic before aggressively asserting your opinion, but once again that would probably help you out here. I have never been banned, and have actually been consulted in having other actual racist psychos banned, but I have been shadowbanned a few times. And most of the time it had nothing to do with social or political issues. Most people who are shadowbanned don't even know it and it is not permanent, usually.

I know how you write and how extreme you are. I didn't say your opinions or research are definitely wrong, but they are extreme. I think they are probably nuts, but maybe you are on to something. It is possible. I just think you were probably on an extreme tangents and they blocked you. It doesn't happen to moderate people.

information is going to perceive things outside of their small box to be radical.
Once again, because you have demonstrated yourself to be an intellectual coward, you will not specify which things I say are radical. You just make vague statements to avoid being nailed down.
Either way, the fact that you are so cool with opinions that are outside your wheelhouse being labeled as "radical" and then being banned as a result further demonstrate why you are the ideal subject for an Orwellian society.

This is your strategy from a position of weakness.
Jul 26, 2018, 11:43 AM

1. Avoid specifics at all costs, because I don't want to get crushed. Specifics are not my bag. 2. Make insults because it is a great emotional outlet for internal shame of not knowing sh*t. 3. Acknowledge he's knowledgeable but use the "crazy" angle so he still looks wrong.
Other people can see that you never specify what I say that is actually crazy. Even those who are really annoyed by me are going to notice that. I try to help, but you just keep whiffing there.
I wouldn't be so rude if you just disagreed with me. This only happens because you insult me in substitute of an actual discussion. Even if you insulted me as part of a discussion it would be more respectable. The only thing you can do with a troll who offers no substance is to treat them like a troll.

You don't think shadow banning is a problem?
Jul 26, 2018, 5:09 PM

I'd be curious to know why people like the Chairman of the RNC are being shadow banned. My guess is it's happening because Twitter is allowing people with left-wing biases to control its algorithms.
On the other hand, I don't think the government needs to be involved in regulating Twitter.

Incorrectly shadow banning and continually shadow banning an account after it was a false positive from the algorithm is a problem, but that isn't happening here. Also, it is NOT illegal.
My guess is the algorithm is triggered sensitively to false positives, and people associated are getting many followers from accounts that *are* flagged/shadowbanned/etc, mistakenly follow/RT/like a tweet that flags their account, and/or enough weeny left-wing dingbats keep reporting their accounts.
Regardless, this isn't a conspiracy. I don't even think the algorithms are too "left-wing bias", they might be too PC bias and sensitive.

Trump probably doesn't know what shadow banning is. But, to me, the fact that this is mostly happening to conservatives makes me think that there's a problem with whatever criteria is being used to determine whether something is "hateful" or "violent." As you said, it's the "weeny left-wing dingbat" factor, except that it's not just people reporting accounts, it's the actual people Twitter is consulting on how to regulate accounts.
I don't think it's some kind of conspiracy, because it's not like Twitter is explicitly trying to shadow ban conservatives, and they've been pretty open as far as who they're consulting. But it does result in decreasing the reach of conservative influence.

No one is going to stifle freedom of speech. Sometimes the kneejerk from the right rivals that from the left. Fact is the speech that offends changes no mind. We aren't changed with offensive attacks we are change with reason. The fully charged emotions on display in this country confounds the message. Both sides could benefit from a good long objective look.
