Kentucky - Louisville too
If the jumble their own schedules, and eliminate some of their in conference rivalries? It might seem more legitimate.
However, you can bet they won't adjust any of their so-called rivalries: Florida - Georgia Auburn - Alabama Alabama - Tennessee Ole Miss - Miss St
Are there any others?

The heads of coot U most likely begged for this to happen. They just couldn't deal with another A$$ kicking from Clemson to tie the 7 straight thumping!!! It won't matter how they see it, it will be 7 straight the next time we play them, and they can't get away with that, it's a done deal even if they run for 5 years, the next one will be 7 straight!!!

In my opinion the ACC was a nation leader with their idea. Made perfect sense all things considered. Naturally the SEC didn't want to appear to be followers.

a maximum amount of games, then what can a conference do to stop a school from playing another game against their rival? It doesn't seem the SEC could prevent it.

Considering there is a law with the S.C. legislature, maybe we should expect a lawsuit? Somehow, I doubt the dirtpeckers are going to fight for this.

Their teams don't have to play at, Clemson, at FSU and at Louisville. Georgia is only SEC homesite rivalry game. Betvit would be a different story if it was the other way around!

whole affair. If USuC truly wanted to retain the rivalry then President Caslen should have voted for a 10+1 plan or at least against a strict SEC conference only plan.
Seriously, if both Clemson and USuC are in favor of playing the game then I see no reason the South Carolina legislature should not step in and through act of law force this game to be played - the SEC can get bent.

or never play them again. This is an SEC decision, not a U of SC decision, but I bet Muschamp is not disappointed. Hopefully we can help out the Citadel and schedule them again and make it Military Appreciation Day also. The Citadel benefits financially from playing us and bring a small, but nice fan base.

Isn't this game required by state law? Does the SEC have authority over UofSCS to require it to break the law of the State of South Carolina? What recourse does the State have? What recourse does Clemson have because technically we'd also be in violation of the law?

No. That's a common myth floated around Tnet, but it's not true. The Legislature only made a law concerning the two schools playing each other in the 1952 season.
However, the interesting thing is that the Legislature passed that law because the SoCon banned Clemson from playing any other conference team except Maryland, which eventually led to the formation of the ACC. So the precedent is there for the law to be passed again and tell the SEC to p1ss up a rope.
But I still have doubts that football gets played at all this year.

Other than "unique circumstances", can anyone find a legitimate

reason to not play an 11th game? Is an 11th game more dangerous? Is traveling to another conference's school or having another home game more dangerous? Or are they reserving an extra weekend or weekends in case something goes terribly wrong and a conference game is cancelled during it's normal slot? If so, the thing is, if it gets so bad as to justify outright cancelling games, does anyone think the games will continue at that point? Will an entire team will be quarantined for two weeks and then be expected to return and play the missed conference games? Is that the "reason" you don't have as long of a schedule?
Look, if we're gonna play, then let's try to do it right. Eliminating long-time, storied rivalry games in the weak guise of "unique circumstances" is ridiculous. It solves nothing.
Way to go SEC. You had a chance to take a lead role with the ACC in all of this, and instead you crapped the bed.

I guess that means we play the #2 team- The Citadel? It's a step up but I think our team can handle it.

Total BS. Best way for SEC to maintain their argument that they are the best conference is to make sure they are not tested. So they make the start date Sept 26 to try to insure there is not time for an 11th game. Always knew the team in Columbia was chickensh@*. This shows the whole conference is the same. All cluck and no bite.

I would gladly trade a SC rivalry for a UGA rivalry.
Really don't care if we ever play the coots again. They benefit from the game more than we. Beating them is too easy. Not worth crowing about. They luck up and beat us, they get to crow loudly.

happen. The SEC is angling to get more teams in the CFP. Since they always start out with half the damm conference ranked in preseason polls, every win is magnificent, and even a loss is "respectable" because it came against a "ranked team". The loser doesn't drop very far in the polls. Unless you get blown out, by the end of the season it's labelled a Quality Loss...
You watch... if the SEC ends up with say, three 1-loss teams, they will make a case that all 3 deserve to be in the playoffs. But one loss for anybody else is a death blow...

Does this mean they (SEC) can’t play in the playoffs? If you can’t play your state rival for safety reasons then playoffs shouldn’t be allowed either. Now only power 4 conference’s in the playoffs!
