They are saying the snag is either because AD is insisting on keeping several assistant coaches or UVA will not commit to upgrading their facilities.
They are claiming that a jet is scheduled to leave Charlottesville and head to Clemson "in an hour or two. But no flight plan exists at this time."
Can't wait for flighttracker to get cranked up. Can't wait to see who UVA media guy will be at thei airport seeing who boards. (They had at least two people vieeoing TE getting off the plane yesterday.)
And, the obvious question, "Where will David Hood be? Will he be at the airport when the plane lands, or will he be hiding the bushes across the street from Tony's house?" ??
BTW, this is why Dabo has remained silent up until this point.

cancelled or something, but looking at the 3 candidates (now) that UVa has been connected with, they're all minority coaches. Looks like UVa is committed to hiring a minority but wants to retain controls of the program without giving the new HC full reign over his program. Essentially, it sounds like they want to check a box but keep doing what they've been doing. Especially at UVa these days, they it's desirable to look like the benevolent administrators and hire a minority head coach, but they don't want him to have too much control - they want to keep their hands in the program. This'll be interesting.
And for what it's worth, I could not care less - and I think most fans are in this boat - what the background, race or even gender of my head coach is, as long as the person knows football and can coach. I think it's great to be deliberate in opening the coaching pool open to minorities, but if you're going to hire someone to be the HEAD COACH, they're going to expect to be the HEAD of the PROGRAM, and not just a FIGURE HEAD, ya know?

Meh, I wouldn't read much into that.
They already hired Mike London before Bronco so it isn't a statement hire or interview.
Pointdexter is a in-demand coordinator for Ped State and UVA alum. Makes logical sense there for him to be a top pick. Elliot has been one of the best OC for several years, a coupe for them for a guy that turned down UT.
I do think it sounds like there is a lot of AD activity and a lack of support. Not a good combo.
