If we do not make Omaha is it a disappointment?

The seed would indicate yes.

at the beginning of the year no, but in our current position I'll be disappointed if we don't make it out of our regional, and still slightly disappointed if we don't make it out the super, even though Duke is a tough team.

We went from barely hosting a regional to a national seed

I obviously would like to make it to Omaha and at least expect a Super, but everything so far has far exceeded expectations and I'd be upset, but in no way would call it a disappointment.

A better question is, who predicted a Nat'l seed this yr?

Answer: Nobody.
Monte has more than met expectations in his first year.
The best is yet to come.

no not all! We have far exceeded my expectations this year

Now next season might be different but I just wanted us to get to host a regional again. That plus 40 wins and two out of three vs coots makes it pretty good

Heck no. We have gotten this far with basically 1 above average pitcher, 2-3 decent pitchers and a bunch of inconsistency from the rest of the staff, not to mention at times horrible infield defense. If we are able to find a couple of guys to come out of the pen next year Omaha will no doubt be the benchmark. This year however, being a national seed far exceeds expectations so anything more will be icing on the cake.

to say otherwise. It wouldn't be anything that should make anyone mad though. Lee is playing with house money right now.

Given our draw in our regional, yeah, we "should in theory" advance to the super.
I have no expectations beyond that, really. Of course, beating the coots is always awesome, isn't it?

I think any national seed should expect Omaha...

...that said, if we don't make it (as long as the Capons aren't our undoing) then not getting there will not diminish from what has been an enjoyable ride that has kept DT at bay.

If we don't win a National Championship in EVERY sport we compete in, I'm disappointed...
...but that's because I'm not sure how to separate my 'unrealistic expectations' from disappointment... still!

therefor not getting there is a disappointment.
That said, this team has already far exceeded my expectations and every media prediction.

Was I disappointed when we lost in the National Championship? Yes, but it only lasted a day. I will always have that feeling no matter who Clemson is playing, but the lingering feeling even thinking back over the years that creates the real disappointment.

if the Chickens come to Clemson and beat us and THEY go to Omaha. THAT will cause a major disturbance, even more than if we lose to West Carolina this weekend.
And you know why.

I dont think so. You get to put a banner up this year in a year when making anything postseason was meant to be a stretch. Losing the regional would be a bit of a downer since we are set up to host a super but we brought home a big trophy and are hosting a regional. Big time progress. Good year

Championships brings elite recruits whom may feel they could make a different if the regional doesn't go as planned. And, that's a (PLUS), not a disappointment for FUTURE PROGRESS.

I don't think so bc, there wasn't many giving us a chance to be in the ACC tourney, and surely not the regionals. Nobody in college baseball including our own ever gave thought to us being in Omaha. I want us to win, and I hope that we keep winning, but I wouldn't be angry or upset if we went no further.

We did beat them twice in the regular season, but only by a combined few runs.

There has to be some separation between being personally

disappointed vs considering the team to be some type of disappointment. The 2008 football team was a disappointment. This baseball team has been the polar opposite. I'll be a little bummed when/if we are eliminated (and even more so if it's the Coots that beat us) just as i always am when any season ends, but in no way at all will i be disappointed in this team.
And i believe i heard last week that roughly 55% of national seeds make it to Omaha. It's not like a team should be "expected" to make it just because they are a national seed.

If you'd have told me this time last year that (or rather after hiring CML) that we'd be hosting a regional, I'd have had a hard time believing it. I think I heard Sturgis say it on radio yesterday, but we're "playing with house $ now". Anything on top of what we've accomplished thus far is just icing on the cake IMHO. Will I hate to lose if we do? Absolutely! However, I'd have taken hosting a regional if you'd have told me that at the beginning of the season.

Not a disappointment at all.
Plying with house money now. The team isn't as talented as the UL or UVA teams they beat. Probably not the FSU team either, we just have their number. Plus in the tournament hitting 1 for 20+ with runners in scoring position was bad. We can't do that at our park. Durham was a hitters park. DKS is only if the wind blows out.
I expect to get through the regional if we beat WC. The Super will depend on who it is against. If it's the dirt peckers anything can happen in rivalry games. If it's anybody else in their regional it's very doable.
