True. They (announcers, including Eric Mac Lane)

were more or less good with his first time (had said a 4.55 would be a good time). One reason they were disappointed in the second run was they said it was almost a second slower, when it was .09 slower.

Good observation. Ross' not-too-fast 40 times does not mean that he won't make the bigs.
Remember that he had foot surgery in (?) late November (?) early December. Even though fully recovered, he wasn't doing 'speed training' during the recovery period.
Guessing that NFL scouts (who know more about college prospects than the CIA knows about Russian spies) will factor Ross's foot surgery / recovery time into his not-too-fast 40 times at Clemson's Pro Day.
Also remember that Dabo, early in the 2021 season, cited J.Ross as being quick enough to play slot WR.
I don't know as much as many of the TNetters, but my guess is that he'd have to be a good quick route runner to be considered over our other tall WR's for the slot WR job. I'm betting that the NFL is aware of this, also.

Moving him to the slot was an awful mistake...and if I remember correctly, about 98% of TNET shared that same sentiment.

Mike W ran a 4.53 on his combine run and that was without having come off foot surgery just months prior. The important thing for Ross is to show that his neck is 100% healthy. The tape shows the rest of his skills and abilities on the field. Likely a 2nd round pick and for his sake hopefully going to a place that can utilize his talents.

He’ll drop to the 4th round + and Jax will pick him.

He probably is a 4th rounder maybe 5th but that's due to various health concerns, 1 being his recovery: he's yet to resemble the player he was before the discovery of his back issues & surgery-

Decent times for his size, if he would have clocked this at the combine. Like a lot high profile Pro Days, Clemson Pro Days have rendered some notoriously fast track times-1

4.56 not good? You are wrong. His size and wingspan? Wow.

His long jump was only 2 inches longer than Skalski’s. Perhaps Skalski is a jumper LOL.

A few weeks ago. He doesn’t list speed as one of his strengths. Still someone with his skill set a 4.56 is not bad. His health will be more of a ? that impacts his draft position
