He’s right if you look at the SC State game…

The overthrow tipped INT was a ball DJ threw while falling back. Same thing with the J Ross overthrow in the end zone, he scrambled right, didn’t square his shoulders, and did a weird jump throw off his back foot.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen this, TL developed the same fall back throw habit during his last season here. I get that Coach Streeter is more of a playbook installation guy, but he’s gotta get DJ back on track with his footwork and mechanics.

With this observation. He sees the same thing that I saw Saturday. DJs mechanics are not there. Compare him in the pocket throwing the ball with TP and you will see a noticeable difference in their throws.

These things are correctable. Wonder if the interviewer asked Levon this.

He is trying to rely just on his arm strength. As i mention before, one of the lob over throws to the endzone the other day he literally threw it with his feet side by side like he was tossing something over the wall just to get it over.

My two cents on DJU
Sep 14, 2021, 2:30 PM

I really don’t understand it. We’ve all seen him do way better. I know David Hood gave us a breakdown of who he was throwing the ball to last year and I’m sure that has a little to do with it but what we have seen so far this year is bigger than that. DJ may have a lot of things going on outside of football or something. DJ is probably putting too much pressure on himself. I doubt he has much confidence in his line. He may get easily rattled by pressure and not recover easily. Our defense has done that to a lot of good QB’s over the years. The ability to not get rattled can’t be taught. As good as Boyd was even he got rattled and fell apart at times. I don’t know what’s going on but what I do know is that DJU has represented our program well and deserves our support as person and as a Clemson student athlete. His dad has recruited hard for us. Some of the players that are here wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for DJ and Dave. I also know that constructive criticism is good but berating our QB, throwing him under the bus and saying he sucks is a sorry way to treat someone who gives his best for Clemson. (Not talking about anything I’ve seen in this thread) If the so called fans would hold themselves to the same standards that they hold some of our athletes to they would crumble under the weight of their own expectations. DJU is a great athlete and I hope he gets it back together soon. I hope he does and believe he will. If he doesn’t for whatever reason the next guy will step in but DJU will always have my support as person as long as he represents the team the way he has up to this point.

He can be better and think he will. But, it really bothers me that people paint him as a diva. He is anything but. He has represented well. He didn't ask for the NIL but it happened. People came to him to offer him opportunities. I doubt any of us would have turned that down. And, as far as I can tell the work was done in the offseason. I don't think it has anything to do with his struggles. People on here wanted to bench DW and TL at some points. He seems like a great young man and not treating him with respect and class does not reflect well on our fanbase. Again, doesn't mean he can't be better, because he can.

I haven’t gotten any of that prima donna vibe from him at all.

I have never seen anything to suggest he is a prima donna. That big a$$ gold big cinco around his neck did give me pause though.

That's probably attributed to the Los Angeles culture influence of where he's from.

He’s definitely not a diva. He’s a team player and accepts personal responsibility for the performance of the offense even though we all know it’s not all on him. That’s a sign of tremendous character on his part. It’s a sign of what we already know and that is that he has a good upbringing at home. Unfortunately that disrespect towards him as a person is not limited to our fans. He would get it anywhere he goes and it is a reflection of modern society as a whole. I have no doubt that he’s got what it takes to overcome all of that and be the bigger man no matter what he does or doesn’t do on a football field.

I don't think this particular post were putting him down like some I have seen. It is just agreeing with what Levon Kirkland was saying since that was the topic. I too think DJ will be a much better QB as each week goes by but right now most everyone can see it because it is so obvious even to us Tigernet experts. If we see it you know our coaching staff does so i willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but Just like LK said it is concerning for a major college QB to regress in the fundamentals in less than a year.

Good post. There are issues. Easily correctable and we see major strides against Ga. Tech and the upcoming road games. Go Tigers

He's still young! Likewise more time for this line and reps with these receivers will help the O improve. Hoping to see some of it this weekend!

DavidHood® ! It's evident from this thread that your insight into DJ's performance to date are clearly a sign of your inability to grasp the enormity of DJ's issues. Granted, you put a lot of thought into the critique, but to many a T-Netter, that's simply a round-about way of ignoring the obvious, which has been articulated repeatedly across this thread.
That said, there's no doubt you recognize sarcasm when you see it!

Kirkland is spot on but consider that Mac Jones was 22 YO Sr. …

And Joe Burrow was a 23 YO Sr when they blew up the college football scene. Pretty sure neither started their 1st two years in college.
DJU is a 20 YO true sophomore who has played 4 college games. So maybe there’s reason to be hopeful and trust the process and coaching. DJU has excellent talent and maturity. My guess both he and his WR will steadily improve and be a force in college football.

Kirkland’s analysis is spot on. What’s strange is that we’ve seen so much breakdown in his mechanics since last season.
DJ will improve if Streeter does his job to coach him through the flaws/habits he’s developed. You don’t go thru the recruiting process as a 5 star with the way he’s playing right now, so I think something else is going on. Most likely the lack of confidence in the Oline. There was chatter out of fall camp that he wasn’t playing as well as expected. Hopefully this isn’t a lingering shoulder injury that’s crept into his mechanics and mental focus.

From what I understand DJ is also burdened with a serious family problem right now. He's a great kid and loves Clemson and represents us well. He was known for being cool calm and collected in highschool so hoping he can get back to his old self soon.
