Does BV not considering other jobs concern you guys?

I mean it's great to have him here as a coach, but if he was truly giving it 110%, wouldn't he be interviewing for head coaching positions?

tigerjames isn't gonna like this.
you had absolutely nothing to do with Troy getting an offer from the Tigers and neither did I or anyone on here. Who the he;;;do you think you are? What a loser. I read your ignorant statements day after day and candidly you just might be the dumbest person on this board. Apologize to you? You've got to be kidding. Now for the facts. Write a serious post and tell me why he was offered. Let's see if you know anything or if you have a serious case of verbal diarrhea!.Fact is you probably are clueless as to why he was offered. Clue--it's pretty simple and basic. Maybe that will help your little brain wake up
OR DEROBERTS FOR THAT FACT.
SO, LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT. YOU SENT AN EMAIL TO THE STAFF ABOUT PRIDE AND THEY CAME TO THEIR SENSES HUH AND OFFERED THE KID. IS THAT ABOUT RIGHT. SAD THING IS SOME OF THE SHEEP ON THIS BOARD WILL JUST PAT YOU ON THE BACK. ME, I WILL LAY OVER IN THE CORNER AND ROTFALMFAO.

We should look for another DC who will do a worse job and worry us that he is shopping around

No it doesn't bother me. Reading his statements makes me believe he would rather be a DC than a HC. Less stress and he's already getting paid as much as most of the coaches in the country that aren't in a P5 conference and more than some of those. He's got a great boss and sometimes money isn't everything. Look how Dabo gave up a raise to pay his coaches more. I see Clemson giving all the coaches a pay raise after this season. Go Tigers.

my feelings exactly. some folks might not want to be a head coach. To me an example would have to be Bud Foster at VaTech. Just maybe BV is happy where he is and wants his son to play for Dabo....

IF B V does leave I look for Dabo to bring in someone better. I will not lose sleep over this possibility. Go Tigers

gets tired of that part of his job. Who could replace him? Rendrick Taylor is on the S & C staff; I think he couldhandle BV. He'd be like Terry Tate, Office Linebacker.

If you read the article, he's not comfortable uprooting his family and changing jobs. He emphasized that point strongly.

Followed Tigernet for a while now and I'm not sure why this is the thread that made me sign up and want to post, but here's my thoughts anyway. If they are helpful, great. If not ignore them (or slam me).
I understand what some folks are saying here: 1. If you don't want to climb the ladder, you're complacent, therefore not driven. 2. If you're people don't want to climb the ladder, you're not mentoring/building leadership properly.
In business, this is accepted theory, though it is rarely practiced and a little too narrow of view. Simply put, career ladder climbing isn't the only motivating factor and probably shouldn't be the main motivator for most people.
If you find a career that you love to do, working with (and for) folks you respect and enjoy and you're in a place where your family is thriving, I'm not certain you're missing out on life because you're not the HC or CEO or President. We are driven too much by titles on our business cards rather than excellence and virtue. I'm crazy enough to believe that BV (never met him, just going by articles I've read) falls into this latter category. That doesn't mean that he will never desire a Head Coaching position in the future. Right now, I believe he genuinely feels blessed to be the DC at Clemson University.
Regarding motivation, I cannot imagine a situation where BV loses his drive for excellence. First, he just has it -- it's not a matter of his circumstances, it's part of who he is and part of whatever he does. Second, if winning another game or another championship or having another perfect season or pitching another shutout or landing another great recruit and building him into a great man or taking a great defense and inching it closer to perfection or incrementally growing as a person doesn't motivate someone, I don't think they're head coach material.

He would only consider other jobs if you'd one was unable to get him off. In which case someone gets the shaft while another is appointed to the head. Hopefully good things come for him. We need him to finish what he started
