Does this help us with the TE out of Georgia? I am not sure how deep their depth is at TE, but it should if hey do not utilize his and other's talent, ibwould think.

Oscar Delp is the guy you're thinking of here.
One thing to note is that UGA is bringing in Gilbert as a WR and not a TE, so it doesn't seem that his arrival will change anything with Delp.
UGA does have significant depth at TE with SO Darnell Washington and FR Brock Bowers, but if Delp is afraid of competition then Briningstool would probably be a factor too.

Here's the way I see it. Some coaches are adopting the theory that college is nothing more than a farm system for the NFL. Build a roster just like you'd do in NFL. All about the money. Really what it is imo is exploiting atheletes. Could give a d a m n about the kid or future. Hopefully Dabo's theory pays off and enough kids and parents will see through it. At least that's what I'd tell a potential recruit from HS.
Kirby, uga, and the rest of the sec are nothing but trash

This crap is here to stay. I was ok with the Transfer Portal stuff, but not making kids sit out anymore was a HUGE mistake. More of these lads than not have played themselves. By jumping into the portal, a whole lot of these dudes are going to end up going from Power 5 to SW Missouri Poly-Tech. IF that. I REALLY hope the NCAA can get some semblance of order to this by next year, problem is, with Congress getting involved, some wanting Unions in College sports, NIL and whatever else, the NCAA is impotent.

He didn't have the grades to get into Florida, I guess UGA doesn't have the same standards.

True Story
When at Brevard Jr College, I was considering UGA (Full Ride), Florida and Tennessee. I had a D in a math class at Brevard. I was telling the coach from Florida one time on the phone how classes were going and that I would have to take a class over b/c I got a D and D's don't transfer.
He said, oh, they do here at Florida. I was floored. I checked with admissions and he was right, and I confired with a teammate of mine a year ahead of me who had 4 "D's" transfer to Florida and count as credit.
I can confirm, Clemson did NOT accept the one "D" on my transcript.

I felt some respect for UGA and didn't have near the ill feelings towards UGA under Mark Richt as I do now under Kirby. It may just be me but I feel like UGA has almost sold it's soul by letting Kirby run the reigns. Just seems like everything is dirty, or tainted that he has brought into that program. All these Pre-season recruiting National Championships he has won and now on top of that he has the gill-nets out to catch any big fish in the portal now as well. So if he can't spend enough buying all the 5 stars he can get for several years, now he adds to his smelly ways.
All I can hope for is that he never gets any closer to a Natty than he has already which was more than he deserves. But on top of that, I hope these 5 stars see the same snake and start leaving the program in hordes and see him sucking up quality players from portal therefore delaying their time seeing the field, therefore driving his recruiting progress backwards.
We can only hope! And I don't hate UGA, many good people and friends have graduated from there but I can't shake the hate for Kirby and his snake oil.

Your love and respect for Kirby Smart aside, what do you think should happen to players in the portal? Take Gilbert, for example. You don't like that he signed on at UGA. Fine. Where should he be allowed to go that you don't think is dirty? You gonna feel the same way about Dabo when he takes a player from the portal - and he eventually will - delaying the playing time of a guy Dabo recruited?

It's not that we think Gilbert is Dirty. It's that he ended up at UGA that raises eyebrows.
UGA very much seems to be a factory, only interested only in a player's football talents. The amount of 5 star players signed out of high school is staggering on it's own. Now they amount of transfers they're taking in seems to push it an already questionable motive to more suspect.
When the amount of "talent" coming in is compared to the amount of off the field issues it very much seems that UGA isn't really interested in getting the best people, only the best players. Grades, questionable character history, criminal history doesn't matter; if you're 5 star talent, that's all they care about.

There is a ton of talent in the state of Georgia, as Clemson fans know well. How surprising should it really be that once Gilbert decided to leave LSU, he wound up at UGA? The kid is from Georgia.
What five star guy has Kirby signed that has questionable character? I can give you the name of Zach Evans, top rated RB who UGA retracted an offer from based on character issues.

Certainly not all are 5 star, but this a start, finding 10 players who have been arrested since 2018. This only took 5 minutes to find searching online.
Devonte Wyatt, Latavious Brini, Jaden Hunter, Tyrique Stevenson, Tyler Simmons, Brenton Cox, Robert Beal, Demetris Robertson, Detravion Bishop, James Cook

The more these kids bounce from school to school...

the further they get from earning a degree.
I wonder how this all effects a schools GSR and APR which holds schools accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term.

at more closely...
When I transferred to Clemson from Brevard Jr College, I lost 21 hours. I had to take 2 more summer classes just to be eligible that fall.
When bouncing from school to school, they're not taking summer school classes, in most cases and are losing credits in the in process.
Seems that transferring multiple times would make it near impossible to be eligible unless an athlete has been banking hours early, which by most cases isn't feasible as coaches don't like their players to take more than 15 hours in the fall.
