This is on our coaches. Should CK be in? Who knows—let’s put that to the side.
Last season though, and this season too from what I’ve seen so far, DJ can be enough of a game manager to get us there IF we stop forcing a system down his throat that he just can’t run.

around his weaknesses, a thing clearly obvious when cade came in. I can imagine that having to do that can make the play calling look bad. Start with a qb with those limitations, against a defense who knows them just as well, and I suppose you can look bad as a play caller. Streeter looked like an evil genius when Cade came in.

At that one nice half-series DJ had in the third. Fast tempo. Quick 5-7 yard passes to singular receivers (no progressions) and basically serving to disconnect his brain from his body. He did great. We never did it again.
I went back and watched, it wasn’t a “take what they gave us” moment either, their scheme didn’t change much. We could have used that a lot more.

other thread. I said cautious. but game manager is what I was going for. HIs stats (beside the fumble) look respectable today. but not explosive like a a Drake May or heck, even Chase Brice. lol
