We could solve this whole insurance issue with personal

responsibility. Let's just stop the people that are gambling with uninsurance and then mooching off the system when things go bad from being able to do so. I think we should make those people pay for their insurance when and if they can.

Then, we're better suited to take one from the great Ronald Reagan, and continue to support those that can't afford insurance. To improve further, instead of being reactive and covering costs once they inevitably need care, let's save money by insuring them proactively.

This is the conservative answer, and it will work.

;)

no pay, no care. Liberals just don't have the stomach for it.

Can you name the liberal president that passed the legis

legislation make it law that we treat those people?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope and I don't feel like googling it

Nov 13, 2012, 11:03 AM

but I'm gonna take a wild guess and say Reagan.

I wasn't even alive during his Presidency. I was just stating what a pure free market would do with this issue.

It's really not complicated
work=pay
pay=goods/services

Funny that you're less than 24 years old,

Nov 13, 2012, 11:14 AM

and I'm assuming you have things, and also have the nerve to think that you've earned something in your life.

You better be posting from Afghanistan.

Well, I put myself through engineering school at Clemson

Nov 13, 2012, 11:27 AM

with scholarships and internships, I've had a high paying job for 2 years and just bought a house with a 20% down payment that I saved up by living frugally.

So yeah, don't try and tell me I haven't earned anything.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not about having the stomach for it.

Nov 13, 2012, 11:02 AM [ in reply to The Conservative answer would be ]

It's that liberals are more forgiving than conservatives. Libs won't let someone die unnecessarily just because he or she made a stupid choice.

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

Isn't life (or the loss of it) all about making choices?

Nov 13, 2012, 11:08 AM [ in reply to It's not about having the stomach for it. ]

If I get behind the wheel drunk and kill myself or someone else, it is a consequence of a stupid choice.

If you chose not to obtain a way to access to healthcare, you're playing Russian roulette every single day.

People, including you and me, make stupid choices all the time. Thank goodness we have each other to fall back on once in a while when that happens. Thank goodness we're not a bunch of jerks who will say, "Sorry, you made the wrong choice. No help for you."

I've been cut enough slack in my life that I would never begrudge some slack being given to someone else.

People choosing not to purchase health insurance is like

Nov 13, 2012, 11:28 AM [ in reply to Isn't life (or the loss of it) all about making choices? ]

me choosing not to buy a Porsche 911. It's not a decision, it's an assessment that I don't have the means.

And when these people without insurance go to the hospital for treatment, you're going to pay for it. "Every man for himself" sounds good until you realize that the world just isn't that simple.

My plan.

Nov 13, 2012, 10:45 AM

Put all insurance companies out of business.
Everyone is responsible for their own healthcare
Maximum $ amount to bring a drug to market $500K
Maximum $ amount for malpractice is $250K
Doctors must publish their rates, and operate like a for profit business.
Hospitals must publish their rates and operate like a for profit business.

Market forces have not been allowed to operate in healthcare for far too long...so premiums have gone up, doctor fees have gone up, medicine, medical devices have increased in prices.

We didn't have this model always folks.
