FSU in big trouble

Now there's proof of what we all knew.

because it has a lot more to lose in the O'Bannon case. Penn State fought them and they rolled over.

The NCAA only has the resources now to prosecute cases where the school has admitted guilt, like the Bauerle and Gurley cases at THUGA.

Don't expect the ACC to be interested in sacrificing its playoff money this year either.

It su¢ks, but "All-in" pays off these days.

Don't get all excited. They will have a press conf and the state prosecuter will have to hide her fsu' ring and then she will say "we couldn't find any evidence. Sorry!" And of course the NCAA only gets excited if it involves minors and the culprits are long gone. Ie. penn state

This is in the Fed's hands now. State is out of it. Winston really isn't in any danger, he'll be gone before any of this gets anywhere, but I'd expect a lot of the top muckity mucks resignations soon.

Well as long as Famous Jamous has learned his lesson(s) that's all that counts

If this stuff is true, several people are probably going to jail. None of those people will be Jameis Winston.

The cover up is always worse than the crime

I hope everyone is fired. That's what you get for trying to protect a criminal

Not in Winston's case. Rape of a young woman that is passed out and being woke up with someone ###### her is to one notch below murder. I can be 100% absolutely positive when I say if he would have raped my daughter or sister, he would have been wearing a grave stone at his head long ago, and not a FB helmet on his head now. I'm not the type of man that could have not defended my family. Not without living the rest of my life with the guilt of me not defending them.

Maybe they will self impose like Miami did and we get the championship nod out of the Atlantic.

The way that he smugly continued to do illegal stuff after this situation seemingly went away lets me know that the University and football staff let him know from the outset that they would protect him.

Unfortunately the NCAA is just plain lame duck on these things these days without the full admission and compliance of the offenders.
Winston , will walk away with that same smirk he had after our game in Sept.

this is not NCAA stuff... This is laws being broken

Oct 10, 2014, 9:26 PM [ in reply to Re: FSU in big trouble ]

People go to jail

Federal government involvement is bad for an FSU that is already broke...

Yes Winston will not spend a day in jail... But this national championship will cost more than it was worth

This NYT piece is ugly for FSU.

Two ways to look at this:

1. The elite media is looking down at a successful southern football school and trying the make the facts fit their predetermined narrative - southern police are obviously corrupt and show favoritism to the football team whom they idolize. Fits all the stereotypes perfectly. FSU fans will probably subscribe to this viewpoint.

2. The facts are the facts and FSU and the local police look horrible. Plus, good grief, how have they allowed a gang of thugs to periodically attack their community with the high powered BB guns for the last two years. After the first couple of times, didn't Jimbo get involved and say "give me all your guns?" The Winston rape accusation reeks. I have no idea if he is guilty or not. The kid may be a victim himself and completely innocent. It's the university itself which looks the worse. How they handle the accusation and appear to have wanted to cover it up is the real story here.

I have some sympathy for point 1. Remember way back in the 80s the Times wrote a uncomplimentary article on Clemson, Ford and our subsequent probation which I felt was not 100% fair and written with some bias. But, I think option 2 is a more realistic view in this case. FSU is in deep trouble.
