I expect Jim Phillips, PhD, is none too pleased.
It could be argued FSU is publicly destabilizing the conference, and hence diminishing its value. How ironic would that be.. stay tuned.
Clemson is very smart to keep its mouth shut.

FSU is required by their public institution rules

To have an official discussion in public view about such matters before they ever take actual action. They had that meeting now so prerequisite #1 is out of the way.
Why are you so upset that FSU is taking steps to get out? I think it is a good thing for everyone who intends to stay a major football program and secure funds to field competitive non revenue sports. Good for them and us! We now need to make a similar thing happen at an upcoming board meeting for the public to see and so on and so on. Other schools should be in lockstep right behind each other too. It’s getting closer and closer to nut cuttin time on this stuff!

ACC will have to take on 7 or 9 lawsuits and they will

Run out of $$ very fast when that occurs.
Let’s face it, the ACC has very little power in this big machine once schools turn on it. Legal threats and lawsuits for what end? ACC still goes bye bye. They have no real leverage. The SEC, B1G, ESPN and Fox took every bit of leverage they might have had by what they did. Then just left the ACC dangling over a cliff on a tree branch just waiting for the first wind to blow. Well the FSU wind just blew and it will not be the last one.

That lawsuit would get laughed out of any court.

1st amendment says they have the right to free speech, and speaking out about what their plans could be doesn't break any laws....

It will go nowhere if they are. I remember when Ken Starr and Baylor pulled that BS when A&M left the Big 12. Somebody will squawk to get attention, but it will go away before anything substantial happens.

Let just assume for a minute, for the sake of argument...

that FSU and Clemson (among others) leave for another conference.
Unless a amicable exit strategy is negotiated by the parties in advance, I would fully expect the ACC to file a tortious interference lawsuit against not only the teams that leave, but also the conference that takes them.

Counter intuitive argument …

Let’s assume that the ACC will never allow FSU to leave the conference of their own volition. Threat of ruinous legal action to FSU and their target conference landing spot if they try.
Instead, FSU bashes the ACC continually; the ACC gets sick of the negative press coming from one of their more prominent members.
ACC tells FSU that they are free to go. Get out and never come back.
