There's plenty to be Googled regarding their stewardship of money.

That they are, which is the primary reason they haven’t fired him yet. Plus who they gonna hire? How big will that buyout be for the next guy?
They would be better off spending that buyout money and stack a roster. Just like it would be stupid for us to fire Dabo instead of giving him the use of more money for portal players next year. Tell him go get 10 plus portal players and pay them more than others are offering. We gonna have to pay up for a QB bc Vizz is a fine backup, but he ain’t winning us a Natty.

He caught lightning in a bottle with the Jordan Travis team, but had so many from the portal on that team that developing high school talent wasn't really an option to even be able to field a team. When Travis got hurt and FSU got snubbed by the CFP, they had way too many opt-outs for the draft or transfers out, and now that vicious cycle is killing the overall team. They have a few studs, but not enough, and they had to go all in on the portal to attempt to remain competitive. At some point, that catches up to you and decimates the roster because guys in the portal, outside of a select few, are mostly guys who were unwanted where they were for a reason or guys looking to maximize paychecks.
It's almost better to take your lumps for a couple of years and build organically...which is what Dabo always wanted to do in the first place to remain competitive. Sadly, ignoring the portal altogether isn't an option these days either, but I don't think that's what has killed Clemson this year. I still believe we have some cancers in the locker room, combined with some other issues, and it's hard to point to just one thing.
All that said, it's Dabo's worst head coaching stint by far in failing to recognize the weak points and allowing the season to get away from him.

Listened to the Josh Pate segment on Norvell. I think he's spot on on this one - if they had the money lined up, he'd be fired today. So they probably have at least one big money guy they're depending on who's holding out...

is on the list of things you would do with it.
Supposedly, Tim Cook paid Auburn the money to get rid of the coach they fired when they hired the coach they just fired. LOL.

getting fired way back when. Granted, the buyouts back in the late '90's weren't anything as crazy as they are now.
Hell, I remember when we were worried about how we would afford a new head football coach AND Tommy Bowden's $3.5M buy-out...
