Sick of the blowouts, so I researched

I don't know why I did this. Something to perhaps get my frustration out into the Universe or something.
I guess it started with my thoughts that the Orange Bowl was unfortunately a better performance than last Saturday. At least we looked GOOD for one quarter.
This is probably incomplete but here are the glaring large large losses for coaches under my fan-ship plus Danny Ford just for perspective.
Danny Ford largest loss in 11 years 1980 Maryland 34-7 = 27
Ken Hatfield 1 in 4 years 1992 Florida St 57-0 = 57
Tommy West 4 in 4 years 1995 Syracuse 41-0 = 41 1996 North Carolina 45-0 = 45 1998 Va Tech 37-0 = 37 1998 FSU 48 - 0 = 48
Tommy Bowden 3 in 8.5 years 2000 FSU 54-7 = 47 2002 Texas Tech 55 - 15 = 40 2003 Georgia 30 - 0 = 30
Dabo 2 in 5 years (.5 of 2008 and .5 of this year) 2012 West Virginia 70-33 = 37 2013 FSU 51-14 = 37

It was in 2007. The final margin was only 18 points but it was 31-8 heading to the 4th quarter and they took it easy.

That was 93, my freshman year. Drove down for that ame and saw us get destroyed.
Had a blocked XP, where their holder chased down our returner on their 15 yard line, keeping the blowout.
What an ugly game.

My low point of attended games has to be Duke after beating Miami the week before. One of the worst games I've ever seen a Tiger team play, especially considering the competition.
We ran a wildcat formation out as a "surprise", called a TO because we couldn't get it set up right, then ran it right back out there on the next play. Horrible horrible horrible game.

Which, though the margin was as big, was worse than UGA
Oct 21, 2013, 12:43 PM
|
|
The UGA loss was one of those games where the score was low for most of the game, and we actually had a chance to pull within a single score in the third, but for a missed PI.
That said, UGA deserved every ounce of that win.
WF on the other hand was a game where we simply stunk against considerably inferior talent.

Danny's worst losses
Oct 21, 2013, 1:07 PM
[ in reply to Danny! Danny! Danny! ] |
|
point spread noted, but Danny still had more than his share of embarrassing losses.
19-0 v. MD '79 34-17 v. a bad Duke team at home in '80 34-7 as noted v. MD in '80 41-23 v. MD in '85 27-3 v. NCS in '86 30-14 v. GT on homecoming in '89
Have to remember one huge point when comparing coaches and eras. Danny's ere was a defense first time. This isn't, so more points and bigger point spreads happen. Love Danny! Love Dabo as well!

score or two late to make the final score look better than it was.
FSU and USC just flat owned us last year.
The GT game 2 years ago. They stomped us from the first play, which was a fumble like the FSU game.
Thee were a lot more games under TB and Dabo where we just got humiliated but the final score fell short of your criteria die too late scores by us.

All of them punk'd Danny Ford, some of them on more than one occasion. Danny's ACC wins were over ACC teams not as good as the teams in today's ACC, and every team gets punk'd. Overall Dabo is doing as well as any coach in Clemson history.

Ford very rarely got blown out, almost never, in 11 years

whereas Dabo is having historic blowouts. Comparing the two is for desperate idiots trying to prop up Dabo.
Ford NEVER had a loss like WVu nor FSU.
And the ACC, top to bottom, was better in the 90s than now. The last few years of TB and until this year the ACC has been at epic lows.
You folks are so desperate to protect Dabo you are posting out your butt and resorting to revisionist history.

Funny, you mentioned "desperate idiots".

Are you trying to tell me that having our 1989 national championship caliber team lose to Duke and GT is somehow less of a loss than to a national championship team like FSU?
A loss is a loss is a loss. We had several teams under Ford with head-scratching losses which put out of national championship hunts. I take that far more seriously than losing big to WVU.
The ACC was not a better conference top to bottom in the 90's. I challenge to show any valid reasoning for that comment. In any case, TB is completely irrelevant.
There is nothing revisionist about anything I said. Everything I said is exactly as it happened.
You simply cannot be serious, yet oddly you keep trying. Funny you say things like, "desperate", "idiot", "posting out your butt" etc.

we still held the ball and ran clock even when we did not score, thus keeping the other team from having as many drives. His defenses were also good, so not a lot of points for the other team. He did, however, lose to almost evey other conference team at some point when there was no way we should have lost the game. He could coach the big ones though, not doubt, except maybe that dern fumblerooski play!

NCSU in 2011. I think we lost by only 20 but we scored late to make it that.

Ford had more blowouts than anyone and those still championing him are just stuck in the past. Dabo is the man at Clemson and those that didn't like his hire have a chance with 1 loss to spread their disease. Hopefully, Chad is right, they'll get it fixed and those whiney a$$es that have been hiden all year will be forced back into hiding.

and we often played big time bowl games against5 big time programs. He consistently beat USC. He won our NC. BIG games on national TV we showed up. By any measure Ford makes Dabo look incompetent. For you Dabo lovers to be trying to belittle Ford's accomplishments is beyond sad and pathetic.
