For those wanting Dabo and the program to take the next step

Sep 14, 2014, 1:53 PM

Consider this:

1. It is better to be at the 10 win level consistently than the alternative. Bowden got us to 8/9. We finally broke thru under Dabo to 10. We will eventually break thru to an even bigger season. It's part of the progression of any good program.

2. Question is- does it take a regime change to get to that next level again?

3. We have to play big boy football on offense. Enough system stuff. Morris needs to adapt his system or bow out. Can't out trick good teams, which is why we struggle vs FSU and SC

dabo is 1 and 1 vs jumbo

We will get usuc. .
I guess lsu and osu were not good teams?

You make little sense.

don't forget that 1-1 vs UGA is the same as 0-5***

If my post doesn't make sense to you then it's Prolly above your head and best if you just stay out of the convo. This is big boy football IQ stuff...it's not for everyone. Tia

What makes you think we will beat SC? I bet you have said the same thing the past five years.

As a side note, it is beginning to look like OSU was indeed not a very good team.

You mean b/c this year they aren't good after they lost

Sep 14, 2014, 4:19 PM

an all conf qb (who some like to tout for the Heisman), a Sr laden OL, and a great RB, that means the team we beat wasn't good?

1. This is the best run of football since the eighties and the NCAA isn't sniffing our butt cracks every time we sign a player. Strange enough, I agree with you.

2. It's anybody's guess what it will take to win a NC if that's what you are calling the next level. If the next level is beating USuCk on a regular basis I'd say starting with one this year will alleviate the pain.

3. The when Watson entered the UGAy game he gave us the first whiff of what a QB trained for this system should be like. That read option isn't a trick. It's forcing the defense to make their decision before we make ours.

Disclaimer: Obviously, you and I aren't a butt hurt over USuCk beating a team that beat us as some of today's Tiger Fans. ##### has the world come to when you and I agree on something a monumental as this?

w/o the OL and running threat, we can be made 1 dimensional by the quality teams. (UGA, FSU & USC) our OL recruits are 2 years from contributing, which would be DW's 3rd year. my fear is that every time we try to bolster our weakness, we develop a new weakness by the time the replacements are ready. good football recruiting is a balance filling your needs each year, rather than focusing on skill players 1 year, defense another and OL another. yesterday, Coots scored as much as we did in 2 attempts against Pruitt's defense, which is telling our offense isn't up to par against the good teams. on paper, we've got a pretty good defense although UGA ran all over it, but maybe that was just Gurley. if FSU exploits our defense again like they did last year, we'll be in trouble against some of the lessor teams on our schedule.

I don't completely buy this. I think we are fine up front and at rb. We certainly were 2 years ago with Ellington. Teams FORCE us to throw by showing an 8 man front, knowing that we will check to a pass. Then they check out and play coverage. At some point we have to simply run the ball and not let the other team dictate what we do.

against UGA, we couldn't establish a running threat. no back has stepped forward to be the same threat as Ellington, and Ellington played w/ Sammy, which kept defenses in check. 1 game (UGA) isn't an indicator (SCSU doesn't count), but if FSU does the same, then a pattern may start to emerge.

Turnover as we have had in the past. We actually have depth and not just starters at this point.

I have always said that the OT would be the last piece of the puzzle. Which could have been solved sooner had we had the Juco option that we didn't.

We have the capable young backs but as we know, it is on the O-Line to give them a true chance. Gurley and Chubb proved this last night.

Our secondary is young and loaded, as well.
