For the streaming crowd, I HIGHLY recommend "1883" on

Paramount Plus. It is the "prequel" to the wildly popular "Yellowstone" series, which stars Kevin Costner. As such, it would be easy to dismiss 1883 as just Hollywood doing its usual thing of trying to cash in by repeating a hot commodity. But, as you will see, 1883 is vastly different. It is probably as stark and compelling account as will ever be seen of just what it took, good and bad, to settle the midwest and western parts of this US of A.
I give 1883 4 Paws Up, my highest possible rating. Sam Elliot is the "name" star, with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as the foundation Dutton family. Butt, there is no doubt, the runaway STAR of the first season is Isabel May as daughter Elsa Dutton. The show is mostly narrated from her perspective. Lamonica Garrett also does yeoman's work as Thomas, a black ex-Union army Pinkerton man, helping lead their small wagon train west.
Not to give out any spoilers, but I will say, if the last episode does not visibly affect you, you don't have an ounce of humanity in you.

Been on the fence on starting that series. May give it a shot. Thanks for sharing.

At this moment, that was the last we'll see of 1893. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the last episode overwhelmed me.

I hope it is renewed for at least one more season. It deserves it. But, even if not, with the work Isabel May did during that one season, I would say the world is now her oyster. She should have her pick of roles going forward, be they TV or movies.

Agree completely!!!! But don't expect Faith to look like

Faith....it is set in 1883, after all.
It's not a huge commitment of time... a manageable number of episodes and I read that there won't be another season.
The end was NOT what I expected.
