For everyone bashing the play calling,

Nov 14, 2016, 10:41 PM

Especially in the red zone, remember what Dabo (I believe it was him) said. DW checked numerous runs to pass based on what he saw at the line and as the play developed. So maybe, just maybe, the OCs called a run and based on what DW saw, he thought pass was better.

All I'm saying is we have a great QB, good young OCs, and overall terrific staff, players and overall team. Take a deep breath and realize none of you know as much as you think you do, even if you're a football expert.

Not an expert and that's a solid point. However, given our redzone struggles and numerous turnovers maybe we should allow less checks in certain situations. Deshaun is the man but he has made so many boneheaded plays that have cost us this year

Did you read where the last pick was JL's fault?

Nov 14, 2016, 10:48 PM

Those plays happen in split seconds and depend on everyone doing there job. Based on what I've seen the last 2.5 years, I'll give DW the benefit of the doubt, especially when someone else says it was their fault.

That's BS

Legget may have not run the correct depth, the pass was intended for Renfrow anyway says DW. Either way, DW missed the defender dropping back in coverage and threw it right to him. It was a great play on the defender's part, but DW didn't see him. His INT's have been more misreads than bad throws.

Questionable calls but that's how it's going to be in any game. Fans always want to blame1 person or 1 group when their team loses but it's almost always a combination of everyone from the refs, to the coaches to the players. The refs made awful calls at the absolute worst times, the mistakes we had came at extremely costly times and we had a bad playcall at a critical point of the game. These things are going to happen you just have to hope they occur at times that are less critical and don't end up costing you.
Overall I thought the offensive play calling was outstanding and apart from one really bad mistake in the endzone Deshaun and the receivers played an unbelievable game. The defense had a pretty awful first half but Pitt had a great gameplan and they kept catching us in the blitz. After halftime the defense adjusted to the new look Pitt was throwing at us and played much better. The defense had Pitt stopped multiple times on Pitt scoring drives only to have really bad calls not only keep Pitt's offense on the field but put them in great position to score. I'm very proud of the way our team fought and performed. This was one of those games where absolutely nothing went right and the few mistakes that were made came at times that couldn't be more costly.

I had a similar thought regarding DW changing the play

Its worked for us often, more often than not, but not this game. They were bad INTs.. bad games happen. Time to finish strong.

I'm not a football expert,but when you can't pick up a yard on 3rd and 1,or 4th and 1,
you got a problem.

Regardless of what the QB saw, a run from the four yard line and a field goal the next play WINS the game! That is called winning football. It may not win you the Heisman but it WILL win the game!
