the defense should get just as much. I see a lot of "fire Riley" going on, but Allen and his defense aren't getting the job done either.

What tiger6 said. Riley has struggled since he's been at Clemson. Both sides have struggled this year for sure.

True. As to tmitchell original post, I've seen and heard a lot of Clemson media groups lay blame on the defense. But not really going to see many reasonable posts saying Allen after year 1 should go.
As for his 4-2-5 D, he's really playing a hybrid 4-3 with hannifan he just doesn't have the personnel to run what he'd like too. Pretty good coachspeak explanation from him imo. I don't want to see him get up there and bash players. But I think if you listen to him, he's identified the problems... Jimmy and Joe's.
As for the offense? I haven't been convinced since day one that our best QB is on the field. I know everyone always says qb2 is the most popular person when you're not winning, but ive always thought Vizz was better.
Now, obviously cade should have started against lsu. But during his first half struggles with Troy, Vizz should have been given some series. Vizz should have definitely been given more real snaps against unc and bc. There were games last year where Vizz could have played a lot more.

This year’s Safety position, when in 2024 we had the talented & knowledgeable RJ Mickens, whereas in 2025 we have talented but inexperienced Safeties Ricardo Jones and Ronan Hanafin, is not as good as 2024.
With respect to LB, there were pluses in 2024 with our outstanding pass-coverage LB Barrett Carter in the group, and also minuses with minimal depth + inexperience to accompany Woodaz and Carter. (Sammy Brown wasn’t knowledgeable enough in first half of 2024 for his abilities to offset his inexperience. By second half of 2024, SB had enough experience to be an obvious benefit.) K.McCloud was injured last year. Dee Crayton was a severe liability in 2024 because of his inexperience; he needs to have a high understanding of the position for his ~modest speed to not make him a perpetual liability. For 2025, B.Carter is gone. However, S.Brown has learned more about how to defend the pass (he’s still got work to do, though) and is our best LB … easily better than in 2024. Woodaz has even more experience and SHOULD have played better this year than last; furthermore Woodaz has been healthy all of this year, whereas last year he missed 1.5 games with leg injury (and was not able to help while recovering). K.McCloud is back from injury and has been a positive contributor to LB depth. Dee Crayton is better than last year and is also not as much of a liability as last year. Jeremiah Alexander is a positive contributor to the depth of our LB group. (*). IMO, our LB group is, overall, at least as good (personnel-wise) in 2025 vs 2024.
DE is far better in 2025 than 2024 as far as personnel, which incorporates the (hoped for … which came true) year vs year improvement. J.Lawson is the shining example of Y vs Y improvement.
DT is comparable in 2025 vs 2024 as far as personnel.
Summary: Don’t give me this ‘wahhh I need better players for me to be an adequate DC’ excuse. Tom Allen has done less with more. IMO his performance does not justify keeping him around for next year.

If merit matters then GRiley and TAllen need to be fired after 2025 season

T.Allen has done less with more.
G.Riley has not developed our players well enough … especially QB.
We’ll see if Dabo BHOG (Brings His Own Guts) and does what he needs to do to fix the coordinator problem.
