which was the 2nd biggest deficient for him at Bama.
Saying..The man/coach/legend/genius pulled the trigger & won..
while we know a coach or two that never change, even if the starting QB takes the entire team over the cliff.

Brilliant move by coach who knew what he had ...

Based on practice reps and game reps building up through season, Saban had put both QB's and the team on notice that Tua was ready to play. Brave? A little bit. Extremely competent and prepared? Absolutely.

of thing next year. With our defense we aren't going to need more than 17 points to win any game up till the playoffs. KB can get us that, and provides proven stability and maturity early in the season. When we hit the elite defenses in the playoffs we pull out our ace passing QB with the vertical passing game, whoever that ends up being.

Had him ready ? C’mon, Tua is twice the QB that Hurts is,

Why was he not the starting QB weeks ago? It didn’t take any coach an entire year to get him ready to play.
Saban pulled the trigger because he had nothing to lose at that point. They would have gotten blown out anyway so what’s the worst that could happen by making a QB change ?
BUT, they are holding the trophy so there’s that.

Perhaps it was the Auburn game that made him consider the option. We were the first team to play them after that, and reports leading up to our game said Tua was an option for us. They just didn’t need to change anything after the two turnovers and subsequent scores sealed our fate.
I’m with lightbulbbill® on this; yet another reason why Saban is in a class by himself...
... but I bet HCDS & Co learned a few things during this year’s CFP. That, and the returning players givesme a very good feeling about us and the next post season!

Saban was upset with Hurts in the Sugar Bowl. (The bammer offense only scored 1 TD in the second half; that TD drive started on the Clemson 29 after the 1st INT and the 15-yard penalty.) Saban was thinking back to the previous NC game when Hurts could not move the offense against the Clemson D. Looking back, it is surprising that Saban didn't try Tua vs Clemson. (But Saban might hv thought that Tua running for his life vs our Tiger D might hv shook Tua's confidence.)
