I do feel bad for Streeter and wish there was

still a role for him.
He was the QB coach for both Watson and Lawrence(did a pretty good job).
He also, in his one year as OC, took Clemson from the 70's offensively to 30th. Not amazing but definitely not firing-worthy.

Anyway, I'm excited about Riley but also feel for Streeter and hate he has to go.

the guy was grossly overpaid for a position that he was highly underqualified and unprepared for.......for an entire year...............nice gig if you ask me.

he'll be just fine financially.

Did a pretty good job …. Not what any nfl analyst or expert says lol it’s been very much reported multiple times that guys thought Trevor literally didn’t progress at all while he was at Clemson and his mechanics actually may have gotten worse , look what dj did his fresh year as opposed to his mechanics and progress the last two years ?? I don’t believe that statement … I don’t hate streeter and wish him the best but where we were/are as a program can do a lot better

DJ was in need of a miracle but I thought Trevor and DW had gotten better.
The 2018 national championship game if you go back and watch look at how many times our receivers ended up with what looked like 50/50 balls. They made some not good throws look great. He looked solid when he left and was deserving of Heisman consideration and the overall#1 pick.

Most of these analysts, not all, are so opinionated and very few have a clue. I have to tune out on occasion because it becomes nauseating after a while.

This is all just my opinion of his time here.

Regardless of people in disagreement about his qb development skills, there’s no denying the offense had issues… and I get 100% qb and wr play had a ton to do with that but watch any game on any sat even the mismatches and the weaker teams find ways to move the ball… at times even against very weak teams that we had more talent we couldn’t move the ball or scheme anyone open… it was like pulling teeth to move the ball sometimes. And I’m not sold that out wr group is as bad as ppl say, do we have a tee, Sammy, Williams, nuk, Bryant, no I don’t think so but not a lot of teams do and their wr are open… I think it’s a lot about scheme and we have gotten boring and away from the tempo that made us great. He refused to run the ball when we were successful doing it… biggest point is this offense had become atrocious and unfortunately streeter was the fall because recruiting is directly effected and ppl like to throw up the wrs well what big time wr wants to come play in the offense we have seen the last 3 years !? I know I wouldn’t so I think fresh blood had to be brought in before this thing got too far gone, hell of a hire and like is said I wish the absolute best to streeter , he’s a tiger… but I’m gonna be very interested to see what DJ looks like the next couple years also bc I have a feeling we will revisit this.

I hate it for him but it’s business, he didn’t perform, it’s hard to blame others when you had a chance. His best plays were TD’s called by Dabo at times. I’m not surprised at all!

Dabo had this planned since mid season, the writing was on the wall!

Firing people is never easy, especially good Clemson guys like Brandon.

The real tragedy isn’t his firing, though; it’s that he was promoted to OC at Clemson in the first place, a role he wasn’t qualified for.

Not sure what you mean by qualified. I believe he has been in the system for a good number of years. He should have been well qualified imo. Just could not call a game on a consistent basis.

Streeter was more qualified at being the OC than Dabo was at moving from WR’s to head coach. Like saying Grisham is our next head coach. Crazy if you think about it.

Goodwin same way he has been in the system. He may be fine after he finds what works for him on a daily basis. Big change when you are the ones calling the plays.

Just because you are qualified does not mean you will be good at it.

It business so I understand and definitely agree with him being fired but I do believe Streeter will find another job pretty quickly and land on his feet. I just wish he had never been promoted and that he was still on staff.

He was just in over his head but he’s a clemson man and I’m his biggest fan going forward.

OP, I get the sentiment and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being empathetic to his situation. Has to be disappointing for Brandon Streeter.

I’ll say this, for anyone who feels bad for him. This stuff is all relative and a bit of perspective goes a long way. There are many jobs all over the world, many with higher stakes than OC on a college football team, where people are in jobs they shouldn’t be in. And it takes years for this to be corrected. Corp America is littered with people in jobs they arguably shouldn’t have been in the first place. Literally books have been written about it (Peter principle). Or conversely, people are wrongfully terminated with far less of a financial parachute. Fair chance BS gets another opportunity in college football because he was given this opportunity at OC. He and his family should be fine unless he makes a lot of self inflicted mistakes personally and professionally.

I’m proud of Dabo and our program this happened. Needed to happen imo. The overwhelmingly positive surprise isn’t a coincidence. Clemson will be better for this and in the long run, it wouldn’t surprise me to see BS get better as a result of it as well. Kevin Steele and Billy Napier have gone on to have very lucrative careers. He will be fine.

Re: I do feel bad for Streeter and wish there was

I hope Streeter finds a place and uses this as motivation to improve. However, all the issues with him still go back to Dabo not being involved enough. If you hire from within its your responsibility to make sure the guy can produce in a role he hasn’t had before. Also, when there are problems (and obviously there were), as a manager you have to step in and provide guidance. Sometimes you have to step in and override bad decisions or even tell the employee “no, don’t do it that way”. Dabo did not appear to be handling Streeter in a manner that identified bad decisions and provide the correct motivation to improve based on the lack of positive results.

Just the fact that Streeter didn’t realize running Ship more was the proper course of action several times (regardless of what he said Streeter didn’t learn) and that Dabo didn’t get on the headset and say no more RPO, just R, shows that he wasn’t that concerned nor involved in the play calling.

Teams know who produces and who doesn’t and these guys aren’t worried about who gets replaced when they don’t produce. Football is the last bastion of meritocracy. They compete for playing and have from the time they were 5. So those who say it would have been disruptive to replace DJ aren’t correct.

Dabo on the other hand seemed to be not working on the theory that you have to produce. Either he was loyal to the very bitter end or let’s say that he really felt that this was the best that Clemson Football could produce in 2022 so it was ok. Either way it says a lot right now.

It’s my guess that a lot of the push for change came from Neff and boosters. The last 2 years are unacceptable to those who donate huge and not so huge sums and I’m sure Neff was notified. With the massive capital projects running and planned, reductions in donations would not be “good”.

Just my opinion with no actual knowledge, but I feel that I’m not far off.
