This is one of the reasons I like Clowney..

I have seen our own fans show our coaches no respect.....4th down against SoCar...boo's everywhere. Throwing staff under the bus after SoCar and FSU....wow.
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1442314
Clowney did take his last visit to Clemson before his decision, but most felt it was out of respect for the in-state program and coaches. Clowney's size and especially his quickness off the ball are unmatched at the high school level and we may never see another talent like him again.
This year's No. 1, Georgia defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, falls well short of Clowney's talent level coming out of high school and next year's No. 1, defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, has a chance to push Clowney, but is not on the same pace heading out of his junior season. We could be comparing defensive ends to Clowney for many years to come.

Koon, who taught Clowney’s English class, said Clowney was “an abstract” to most people at the school of roughly 1,400 students, most of whom do not know him personally. Some of Clowney’s teachers, while admiring his athletic ability, wish that he would apply himself in the classroom.

Clowney's a monster. But when he took his official to Clemson, I don't think it was just out of respect or anything. An offensive guard on the team who I know and was talking to him a lot leading up to recruitment told me that he was informed he would have to go to Hargrave for a semester before enrolling. And (understandably) he wasn't into that. #### happens. Great player.

it's a well known fact(by those in the know) that both Clemson and Bama tried to convince to go the Prep School, while USuC got him labeled as a kid with a learning disability. He's a good kid, a beast on the field, just not a rocket scientist .

Did your offensive lineman buddy write this article? You claim that a lineman friend of yours told you this and when asked to reveal the source you post a link to an article written by someone else. Pure brilliance.

Not asking for that, just for him to reveal his "source." It's probably the same guy that said he had pictures of Clowney flipping off the crowd and pretending to hump a Clemson sideline person.

I can read very well, it's apparent that either you can't or have a lack of reading comprehension skills. He said an former OL stated that Clowney was told that he had to go to a prep school before attending Clemson. I asked for the poster to reveal his source. The poster then links an article written by someone that was not his source. Then you made some stupid hillbilly response probably from a public library computer or somewhere that actually has electricity.

When he choose S.C. on signing day they ask him if any other school had a chance. He said " yeah, Alabama". He is a pricked, hope he blows out a knee, ankle, shoulder, and neck.

Clowney's mother wanted him to go to Clemson over SC, but proximity is what drove him to choose SC. From Rock Hill, it's a simple 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minute hike straight down I-77 to the stadium. To get to Clemson from Rock HIll, it takes an hour longer and you have to get off of the interstate and travel through the country. Leading up to his announcement, the buzz up here in York County(aside from his high school coach Carroll) is that he and his mother wanted to go to Clemson, but he chose SC to give his mother a better chance to see him.

You are correct. His mom liked Dabo but he had ex teammates and Columbia being so close was thewhole deal. Mom took RN off the table but mom couldn't change Clowney. Living so close to Columbia it was all you heard about at the time.

Clowney’s decision could be undercut by his poor academic record. Two people with knowledge of his classroom performance while attending South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, S.C., have raised questions about whether Clowney will be able meet the N.C.A.A.’s minimum academic standard if he wants to play next season.
(But of course he did at SCAR)...

I'm pretty sure Clowney did qualify. Bobby Carroll said he did, can't think of a reason for him to lie about it? Anyway, he's in Columbia for another year, and I would like to hope that somebody on our staff will scheme a tad better against him next November, ya think?

Clowney said he developed more interest in Clemson after signing day. Despite finishing 6-7 last season, the Tigers staged a coup by signing the blue-chip linebackers Stephone Anthony and Tony Steward. Clowney said he had more closely considered Clemson because he could make its strong recruiting class even better.
Too bad he didnt qualify...
