Watson, and you, should ignore this. It is a shot to make him try harder to put passes in tight holes and make quick decisions to show he is a "top 5 QB." No, don't buy into this. Play the game you are meant to play and it will all come together and we will have won the battle on the field.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

material! I don't think this will bother DW at all - he will play loose and with the joy we have seen him and have a Heisman trophy candidate game with beat down of N.D. It will also motivate D too! thanks ND cornerback!

I said the same thing when reading his BS. He is trying to pisss DW4 off and make him prove he is better than this piss-ant is saying he is. I think he has waken the Giant not thinking about the poise DW4 has under pressure. Hopefully the entire offense is insulted by his words towards their QB. Tiger team you have been challenged, how will you respond!!!

Everyone hates ND, not just Clemson old-timers What he said wasn't disrespectful at all, and I'd argue it's pretty much the same thing Clemson players have said about ND. I think the ND kids know full well how good Clemson is and especially the experience at Death Valley at night under the lights. But Tiger fans need to also understand that Wofford and App State and Louisville are not exactly the best sample size for preparation against ND. It's not that UVA or UMass isn't that good either, but at least 3 out of 4 teams were from Power 5.
ND has their warts, too. They can get beat. You can occasionally run on them. Watson and his WR corps can definitely hurt ND's secondary. ND doesn't have the best pass rush either, as strange as that is because they have athletes. So Watson can do things against NS.
If it comes down to a field goal, ND is toast. The Frosh kicker chokes.
I expect a great game and it's anybody's guess who will win. As a Domer, I am hoping for a 34-31 win.

I totally agree with your analysis of Notre Dame. When I watched the Georgia Tech game, you could see a weakness on the edges from players with speed. We have a few of those kind of players at Clemson. Now, let's exploit that weakness. Artavis Scott and Ray Ray may have monster games.

or did an "academic advisor" watch it for him and prepare his thoughts? Just wondering based on his 2014 academic issues. If he studied Clemson as well as he studied anything else expect him to get roasted Saturday.

pretty accurate to me. Watson has not proven he is a Top 5 QB...yet. Hopefully he will Saturday night. Based on LOS (where games are won/lost), I am not very confident going into this game, but not conceding either.

Yea, we all know Watson's potential but so far this season he hasn't quite shown it. Hopefully after the extended time off they'll be ready to finally put together a proper game on offense an Watson will look like his old self.

Should you play for a half, or 2 quarters? I'm not sure.
That is almost as good as: "you skrong?"

Did you do the research and come up with this conclusion yourself? Asking because of your history.
All indicators are that you are a solid player that's been in the game for a while. You don't need to run around talking this kind of nonsense. I realize you probably forgot how to deal with the media after having been put in time out last year....coach ain't ghana be happy with you son.

He might see players with the same type of skills as our WR's in practice but he doesn't see 85,000 people at practice either. They also huddle in practice. Its going to be hard for them when they cant sub in and out as they want. They will have a hard time mimicking our game speed.

Yea this guy is an idiot.
But on the flip side. If the co-cordinators keep calling QB keepers on 3rd down and if we continue to have the inability to throw deep, since Peake and GHop are Houdinies as well as football players, then I don't know know how far off this kid could be.

Dude the deep ball has been taken away the last few games. Teams didn't have the talent to even attempt press man coverage. So, we took what the defenses gave us. And we did quite well with that. The domers, however, believe that they have the horses to run with our receivers. And maybe they do, we will see. But I believe the deep ball shall return, oh yes, the deep ball shall return.??spot the ball!??

The deep ball has been taken away because we've essentially been playing with 1 full-time receiver (Artavis). G-Hop and Peake have been good for 1 good catch a game, 1 bad drop, and then a whole lot of ????
Given the ability of Watson and our receivers, teams shouldn't be able to take away the deep ball. We haven't been spreading the field whatsoever, so our offense has stagnated. If we're going to succeed, we're going to need to see a whole lot more from our play calling.

Hopefully the ND defensive coordinator has similar confidence and attempts to come up and try to get physical with our WRs at the line of scrimmage so we can blow by them all game with the big downfield plays.
Deshaun's just a smart player who's patient enough to take what the D gives him. You play our WRs 8 yards off the line of scrimmage bc you're scared of getting beat deep, of course we're going to continue working the screen game and underneath routes.

I guess 75% completion and 650 yards in the air doesn't count. People get too jaded by teams that play 100+ point games every week like TCU.

And he won't as long as long as defenses play our WRs so far off the LOI. They are forcing us into a dink and donk game bc they feel deathly threaten by our deep ball game. And I feel that Mackensie Alexander will show up and prove he isn't scared to play against Fuller. He will feel that there is no better way to prove what he has been saying all along, that he is the best corner in the country.

a mediocre QB. People always say that when you have a QB that can't really hit the deep ball or put up a bunch of yards / points. To me this is a total slam on Watson. We'll see what that CB has to say after the game.

Mr. Russell you have gone and upset the whole Clemson national..... And the confidence you have in a 6'0 WR and a Defense that gives up big numbers to FCS teams. We are the biggest team you guys will face all season judging by your schedul, us and GT were your biggest match up don't get the big head over beating a UAss....and a depleted GT team who lost to duke.

Hard to imagine that...
Sep 28, 2015, 1:56 PM
|

Dabo and company haven't played coy up until this week. The game plan against Louisville seemed rather vanilla until we needed a shot in a arm and scored on a couple quick hitters. The Tigers controlled the line of scrimmage the entire game. Elliot and Scott have been emphasizing the ground game heavily these first games in preparation for the long haul. So of course DW hasn't been featured. If this guy thinks DW and our receivers aren't planning to knock the lid off their defense on Saturday then his undersized jersey will be left with more grass stains than his managers will be able to remove.

Spot on...I've been saying it all along. We didn't have to be world beaters against App St. and Wofford, and the game plan against UL was one dimensional...run, run and run more. We did that, and did it well. We rarely even featured the screen game against UL. I fully expect to see the top taken off of the Irish D on Saturday. We've been holding back just for them. With DW4 at the helm and playmakers all around we could have embarrassed our first 3 opponents but knew we didn't need to, and definitely didn't need to tilt our hand to ND or GT. Our staff is bright and talented, and they simply "get it". We've been preparing for October all along, and it doesn't matter what some arm chair analyst has to say, or what ESPiN stats reveal. Our team is full of selfless individuals that truly buy into the term "ALL IN". I say we're sitting pretty come November.

Personally, I think Watson needs to prove himself to be a Top 5 QB. He played great last season but didn't play a whole season...and he really hasn't shown out so far. We all know what his ceiling is, and I think some of his hiccups have been in part to the ACL surgery from last season...but he's still gotta show out a bit better.
This is the perfect stage for him to shut this guy up. Let's hope he does it.

I think so too. I personally believe Watson has the ability to be the #1 quarterback in the nation. But once the games start, you need to do it on the field. So far, Watson hasn't played as well as he can so I don't think he can be considered a Top 5 QB quite yet. I think his ACL tear is hampering him a little bit still, and the new offensive coordinators have been calling very bad games. Hopefully the extra time off will allow him to feel better physically and give the coordinators a chance to revise their play calling strategy.
DeShone Kizer seems like a heck of a QB. He's very talented, and he's got an incredible WR in Will Fuller. On top of that, Prosise has proven himself to be a great RB. Kizer will come into a very intimidating atmosphere on Saturday but he's got a very balanced offense which should help him a lot.

I urge you to go look at his stats and time played. He actually had a good game apart from one int at Louisville and another where artavis thought he was going to get a PI call and left the ball for the defenders. Yeah he was too amped up and it showed but it was his first true road start. Even with that he put up good numbers but some people act like he was 8-25 with 4 interceptions

His stats weren't terrible, no. They certainly weren't what we're used to with him, but they weren't terrible. Both of his INT throws were bad. He tried to fit it in way too tight a window on the first INT, and on the second INT he floated the ball into tight coverage. It's one thing to throw that to 6'3" Mike Williams, but another to throw it to 5'11" Artavis Scott. It's not a fantastic throw even if it's to Williams, but it makes more sense since he's a big body, jump ball receiver.
There were several other "he's not himself" throws during the game, most notably when he threw the ball into the dirt in front of Jordan Leggett when it would have sealed the game.
I don't think he's doing terrible. But he's set a precedent for his performance. I expect great things out of Watson because if he plays to his potential, he's far and away the best QB we've ever had. As I mentioned above, I think a good part of it is on him, but a big part is missing Chad Morris. The play calling has been atrocious against App State and Louisville. If we're going to play to our potential, we're going to need to get a lot better out of our offensive coordinators, and receivers not named Artavis Scott. I think we need to see more out of Cain & McCloud because so far Peake & G-Hop aren't cutting it.

You do realize UL and Wofford came in with the gameplan of keeping everyth8ng in front of them, right?
4 took what they gave. The patience shown not to throw into double coverage like in the days of Chad, was astonishing by the OC's and DW.
Guess what happened when App State played us man press. They got an INT on a slant route (that was 100% on Peake, not 4). Oh, and then DW loaded up for a 60 yard bomb to Peake in stride (behind the defense).
You're an idiot if your assessment of DW's performance is based on the few big plays downfield throws, and interceptions on the WR for lack of effort.
He's been brilliant thus far, as has our run game and play-calling. Expect to see plenty more edge plays (screens and runs) to tire their overweight and out of shape DL, then pound ground up tgeir fatigued gut. If ND wants to avoid the aforementioned scenario, they'll come up to the line of scrimmage and try to press cover us in man situations, in which case you'll get a chance to see "the old DW"
Either way, they'll have to pick their poison. If they press AND blitz, good luck. DW's gift is in his ability to quickly scan the field and release the ball to the open man.

1. I haven't seen him play enough to know how good he is. Injured last year, and so far this year Clemson has played Wofford, App St., and almost lost to Louisville. 2. Yes 3. I don't know what QA is. 4. I'm guessing the Tiger was awake before any comments made by ND players this week. Will have been stewing for 17 days by kickoff. 5. Looking forward to some great bbq. Any recommendations? 6. Going to be a GREAT game.

Lessee what you've done so far:
Held a pathetic Texas team to 8-23 and 103 yds. Swoopes has since lost his starting job. Good work. Seriously.
Gave up 26-38 for 289 yds and 2 TD's vs a pathetic Virginia team. Good job.
Gave up 2 TD's via the pass to Ga Tech, who is a rushing team. Way to go.
Gave up 302 yds passing and a TD to UMASS. UMASS. I'll say it again - UMASS. Good job.
Looks to me like your alligator mouth is outrunning your hummingbird a$$. You'd better bring your A game on Saturday, and it had better be an improvement over your last 3 games.

Because they want to speak with people from other fanbases about an upcoming game. Stop being so uptight. It's funny that Clemson has a reputation for having the most friendly fans when it comes to welcoming opponents to tailgates, etc, but so many on TigerNet are such uptight d-bags that cry and complain when other fans come on the board and start asking questions.

Tough words coming from a " spaghetti sauce stain"
Sep 28, 2015, 4:19 PM
|
|
SOUTH BEND — The sweetest plot twist thus far in Notre Dame Football, the reality TV show and actual reality, came Sunday morning courtesy of an MRI on Corey Robinson’s tweaked knee.
The Irish junior wide receiver, who missed Saturday’s 62-27 offensive overkill of UMass, injured the knee in pregame warmups. But after receiving a cortisone shot on Sunday, Robinson is expected to be back practicing on Tuesday.
The injury story line was getting a little monotonous anyway, surely for Irish head coach Brian Kelly, whose team held steady at No. 6 in the latest AP poll released Sunday, and likely for the legion of Showtime viewers as well.
Now if only Kelly can manipulate the ###### regarding the heretofore underwhelming Irish pass defense.
On a national statistical report rife with superlatives, ND laboring in what was thought to be a projected area of strength is like a spaghetti sauce stain.

Kinda surprised to see Tiger fans expecting to blow by ND. After all, you've played three crummy teams (Woff, Lou and Boy Scouts) and still think you'e all that. I think Clemson is full of talent and I think Watson will create problems for ND, but ND wins this one with its running attack. You won't be able to stop it or slow it down enough to win.

I think there are some over-confident people on both sides of this. The big difference is that the volume of trash talking over the media seems to be a bit higher on the ND side. The players and the fanbase have provided lots of bulletin board material.
Of course there are over-confident silly people on our side as well. I personally think it's going to be a slog with a good bit of scoring happening for both teams. Not a shootout by any stretch, but both defenses will give up far more than they usually do.

I mean I'm still trying to figure out why the heck people are even giving DW4 crap??? Like seriously? He showed you last year that he can throw for 550 yards and 5 TD's in a game easily, win a game on a torn ACL. Come in to FSU in a Hostile Environment as a freshman and actually give us a chance to win the ball game.
I mean This kid is so talented and smart the coaches let him change the play if he wants at the line. DW4 played really just the first half of the first two games with vanilla play calling then he goes to Louisville and doesn't throw for 500 and we don't put up 50 so all of a sudden DW4 "isn't as great as we thought". That is the dumbest f'ing thing I have ever heard. RG3, Mariota, etc... weren't perfect. If you really know football you will know this kid is going to go down as one of the best to put on the Clemson uniform and I am proud of that.

I hope that continues, and I suspect that our receivers will have a good day of it too. I do hope our OL steps up and plays its best game ever to give DW time to throw it, and I also hope he is turned loose to run and scramble. I believe his passes are very good, maybe even better, when he is moving. and it forces the defense to honor the run.
