hell when I was in school I remember one of the catbuses hit a girl between McCabe and Fort Hill and she ended up losing her foot due to the trauma. of course poor driver cant help it if someone steps out in front of a GIANT PURPLE MOVING bus.

Yes. I lived in McCabe that year and remember it. She got drug awhile. She also got free tuition. Wonder if this girl will as well.

Sorry the student got hurt.
Why the need for buses on campus roads during class time?
We use to walk/bike to class. 15 minutes between classes was sufficient to walk if you did not get distracted. Various roads were blocked off from 8:00 to 5:00 so vehicles could not interfere with class change.
Guess I am too old to understand that pedestrians and car/buses don't mix or Clemson campus acreage has really increased a lot since the 1970's.

It's a hike out to those commuter lots. If you're walking from Tillman to The Pit and it's 97 degrees outside... no thanks. Also if the busses are on time they speed everything up. They still have certain roads blocked off at certain times and traffic through campus is naturally reduced because it takes you forever to drive through with students all over. It almost seems like an unwritten rule to not drive through the middle of campus during the day unless you're on a moped.

2.5 years of bachelors, I can attest how far the walk-run-trot is/was from the commuter lots to main campus. Wish I had some old stories to share about having to ride the CAT buses to and from, but all mine involve walking through downpours, sleet and snow storms.....but....we survived and I am glad progress has made things a bit quicker, easier, and drier than the caveman days.
If only someone would've thought of UBER back then....:~)

Personally I enjoyed the walk and usually walked to and from my car unless the weather was terrible or I was really late.
