Expansion solution

May 9, 2012, 8:50 AM

The first option should be for TDP to get with the FSU AD and approach the ND AD. Start a new conference!!! If can get ND on board then all options are open. Offer them a chance to play for a conference championship, A conference network, and annual road trips to Florida. Once their on board, let them approach Penn State. Then go after Miami, GT, Louisville and either WVU, Cincy, or NCST. Stop at 8 teams for now, so ND can still play their other Natural rivals and split the pie with fewer teams. Sign an annual "challenge" deal with PAC 12 so ND can still play USC or Stanford. No travel concerns and big $$$. Problem solved!!!

The problem with a "new" conference scenario is that it will

take years to formulate and years for the TV $ to take effect. Expansion or changing colors is the most efficient and immediately effective way.

Unfortunately that can't work because of the 'Grant of Rights' that was signed by WVU and other teams preventing them from leaving their current conferences.

Getting ND to join the ACC could save the conference. But anything other than that should push both FSU and Clemson to the Big XII.

Being in a conference with ND would be no different than the situation that we are in now with UNCheat being the #1 and only Darling in the ACC. ND would never come to the ACC and compete for the Darling spot with UNCheat. Honestly, I can't ever see that happening. ND would never settle for #2 spot behind UNCheat.

When ND is forced to join a conference they will...

be the driver in the negotiations. It will be about how much more they get than others in the conference. It a waste of time to try and get them involved before the playoff system is in place. At that time their hand will be forced.
