How does this compare to previous classes?
If Jack had better classes in the last couple of years, then I believe that the coaching change might have impacted the class ranking. But I expect better times to come under Coach Lee and his staff.

But most of the players Coach Lee has brought in have not been very highly touted recruits. I hope and feel this will change. From what I've heard coach Lee is a perfect fit and the players love him.

.....cutting it. Lee needs a couple years not only to bring Clemson back but to show recruits that he CAN bring Clemson back and get the Tigers where they deserve to be, in Omaha.....

Recruiting rankings in baseball mean a whole lot less than football or basketball. Many of the top players that get drafted in the first 3 rounds go on to sign with the major league. Part of Leggett's problem is he went after and signed some very highly rated players and classes only to lose most of the better players in these classes. You then have to go back and replace them with your C or D List players because those on your B list end up at major programs.

This is extremely concerning as many in the know believe we are over ranked at 31...that we should be lower.
The bulk of Lee's success came when he had one special assistant who is now HC at cofc. Interested to see how this upcoming season plays out between the two schools.

No way we should expect Monte to have a top 25 class in 2015
Sep 22, 2015, 7:03 PM
|
|
Monte came in without laying the tracks for his recruiting process. 2016 will be better and I believe with all Clemson has to offer and a coach kids love it will take 3-4 years to see the kind of talent he will consistently bring in. I can't wait to see how he does.
I love the fact that he is willing to look at what makes these kids tick and develop relationships before he offers them. I believe we will be a much improved program with the fun and excitement Monte brings. I love the fact he wants us to be known as an offensive attack baseball team.
Go Tigers!!

a press conference and comment on this press release. Help the average fan understand what these rankings mean and why there is reason for optimism. Or tell us like it is and say we are rebuilding and give a timeline.
Come on Coach Lee and Clemson Athletics...give it to us straight and help us get behind this team. Lord knows Coach Leggett failed miserably in this area. Show us you're different the same way Dabo did.

Dabo calls a press conference every year after his recruiting class...even after the first one where he only signed 12 players.
So there's one example for you.

A press conference would be a waste of time. The "average" Clemson baseball fan is unwilling and/or incapable of understanding rankings, or a well reasoned explanation. You can't reason with people who have already made up their minds.

I was simply saying that it would be good to hear from the baseball coaching staff more than we did with Leggett. This would be a good opportunity. You guys are reading to much into my comments.

And despite the 2 best recruits going pro it's still a pretty decent class. Next year's class looks good too.

Guarantee Monte will build a winning "1st" class program. Just let him turn the stove on to warm it up so he can start getting the right ingredients he needs to build that Championship CAKE!

Check out their recruiting rankings the last 4 years by Collegiate Baseball....lol
2014 - 9th 2013 - 22nd 2012 - 32nd 2011 - 17th
Clemson was actually ranked #5 by Collegiate Baseball in recruiting in 2012.
Take it for what it's worth.

Baseball, more than any other D1 sport, is more about

good developmental coaching and less about natural talent. I think we have the right man in place now, with a new, positive attitude that frankly hasn't been present in the program for a few years.
As far as ranking recruits, can you say Scott Wingo? Should have been a Clemson Legacy, but We (Leggett) didn't want him, didn't think he was good enough, and all he did was lead the dirtpeckers to TWO National Championships. In College Baseball, it is often as much about the "want to" as it is about talent. I think the new coaching staff will instill the "want to" back into our players, and good things are ahead. Mark it down.

once again, please tell us where wingo was going to play. we had mike freeman, waaaaaaaay better than young wingo. cant wait to hear the we didnt recruit roth either. we have got a new coach. can you goobers not let it go. if jack had the 31st ranked class you would be all abuzz about how bad recruiting is. fact is, jack is gone and we have hired what looks to be a home run. i am guessing his recruiting rankings will pick up once he gets settled. if not you goobers will be complaining about him also. just the way the mot works.

^^^^Now that right there is funny - either ALL CAPS or all lower case. You're actually allowed to combine the two cases in sentences, but you have to know when and where.
