Bill Maher's conversion from libertarian to populist is complete.

Nah, he just went to talk to someone. Oh, and Bill Maher is a liberal. The left has just gone so far left that they don't know what a liberal is anymore.

Godwin himself, the man who invented the whole Godwin law and bringing in Nazis/Hitler, said his law always applies--except when the people are doing EXACTLY what Hitler and the Nazis did. And there are absolute parallels right now between the early days of the Reich and what Trump is attempting.
Maher himself has said many times that if Trump got power again, he won't give it back. Who does that sound like?
There's no humanity to Trump, and I see David's overall point with his satirical piece: Stop trying to humanize people who are evil and void of any morality or empathy. Let's call them what they are.

You see some parallels, but that does not make him Hitler. He's got a

LOOOOOONG way to go to reach that. At this point, the comparison is indeed, laughable. I'm glad we still have some media that has some objectivity and can think outside of the partisan echo chamber.

Eh. He overreached in my opinion. Talking is good. Understanding is good.

And a comparison to Hitler is not a comparison to his "earlier hits". We all know what a comparison to Hitler is. You can't point out that someone isn't too good a drawing and then equate them to Hitler.
This will sound cheap, but I have come around on Maher. I couldn't stand him back in his "Politically Incorrect" days. Hackery, in my opinion. But he's found his voice and I THINK (who knows?) he's being sincere. He's a liberal who sees his party becoming leftist. James Carville is the same way, only he's funny unintentionally. It's why there are so many YouTube clips of Maher that Republicans like lately (over the past four or five years).
So...go, have dinner with Trump. Be friends with Kid Rock. I think that's great.
My problem...
I didn't see his whole summary of the discussion. I know he went on and on about the private Trump being different than the public Trump. Great. Good to know. But then he says "That stuff you did with Obama's birth certificate...I didn't like that." What?
That's a cop-out. That's easy. No one cares about Obama's birth certificate anymore. Obama could stand in the middle of Time Square naked but for a Kenyan birth certificate covering him, laughing his head off about how he got one over on the US voters. It doesn't matter anymore.
So...I think it was a weak thing to bring up, and that is a disappointment.
"The overwhelming majority of economists say tariffs don't work. Are you going to own the recession if/when it happens? Is there any point where you would say that you are wrong?" "Is there no moral stand of our nation? Are we purely a transactional people out to get ours, and leveraging our strength to do it?" "Do you see no moral difference between Russia's actions and Ukraine's? How can you equivocate between the two in terms of right and wrong, in terms of who started the war, in terms of which one is the victim? Would you give up the southeastern United States if taking it back from an invading army would be messy? Would you cede the southwest to Mexico because of their historical ownership and the use of Spanish there?"
I mean...there are a thousand questions he could have asked that Trump couldn't have just smirked away that would have REALLY given Maher some insight into Trump's mind. But he (by his report) took the easy way out. A missed opportunity. He needed to be stronger than that.

As someone said, the lefts meltdown about Maher meeting Trump wasn't about Maher, it was a warning to any other left wing type who might be considering doing the same. Can't have anyone challenging the narrative of the brain dead Marxists in charge of the Dem party these days.
