Our best D-Line, Wilkins, Lawrence, Ferrell, Bryant - that's about as good as you get. That was an NFL D-line and they won us a national championship by totally dominating Alabama.
O-line has not been a strength, at least not this century. But comparing any position to our best d-line is a losing bet. We had the very, very best at that position.

Exactly, just look at how each has/had in the NFL.

Go back to the mid and late 70s. The Bostic Brothers and Steve Kenney were a tough bunch. About 30 years of NFL experience from those 3.

Agreement with what the op are saying.
But I will add, we're heading that way. If Everyone stays, and stays injury free, we might rival the Bostic bros. in two years. We should have a good one next season and we'll be able to run up tempo because of depth.

Mid to late 70s when we had guys like Joe and Jeff Bostic, Steve Kenney, Chris Dolce, and Bill Hudson. The Bostics and Kenney all had good NFL careers. We also had good DLs during that time as well so I don't know if I would say the OL was better but it was very good.

The 2018 team says hello
rushing - total 3,723 per game 248.2 as I recall that team was pretty good ">
But, the 2018 DL was lights out

The DL's have consistently been better than the OL's at Clemson. Folks are going back 40+ yrs to name an OL that they consider exceptional. During that same time period there have been 20+ exceptional DL's. For whatever reason, Clemson has never had the tradition on OL that it has had on DL.

Nope. For years we had an absolutely tool at the job, but we finally let Caldwell go, and things havent looked a lot better, maybe were a little better at blocking, but DJ’s awful timing just made mess every snap and wouldn’t let any rhythm start.

An absolute tool? Really? If you think he wasn’t a good coach, fine. Compare and contrast. Make an objective statement. ?? RPO has got to be the toughest offense to block for. I grant you DJs timing and decisions were often lacking. He definitely needs a pro style offense with pass blocking studs.

Why were our DLs infamous? I mean Christian had that “oil check” moment on a buckeye, but other than that they were pretty standup guys. Please explain. ?
